Time = Money... or is it not?

Over the time that I've running a quest shop/skilling service. I have come across these people occasionally.

They want to buy a service. Expect to get maximum levels, want to pay minimum.

EG: 1-70 ranged would take anyone atleast 2-3 days.
If you work 1 hour in any 1st world country you would atleast get 4$ a hour.

I ask 7M for this. Wich is 14$. (Sell rate)

Buyer answer: Lol overpriced. I'm trusted wtf, I can get cheaper.

    Any opinions?

Not that expensive but do you do it by hand or do you bot it?

The thing is, playing a game isn't skilled labor, nor is it even work that people find unappealing. Hundreds of thousands of people pay money to play Runescape.

In order to make money while training other people's accounts, you would have to be training several accounts at once.

    edit:

It costs essentially no labor for you to bot his account for him, you should really only charge him slightly more than the amount you could make from goldfarming that period of time.

Most of users who think its overpriced are just kids who value their time spent on getting gold rather than considering it as currency at certain rate

I'm training several accounts at once. But the thing is people ask the maximum eg: 1-99 a skill expect to pay 20$.

Why is it like this? The average customer I get is paying what I ask for it. 1/10 people are like the stated above. The most off them are people who deem their selves ''trusted/experienced''.

Look you're from the user service market too. Getting a Fire Cape would cost u atleast 1/2 hours. Do you ever get people who say ''It's expensive'' or ''I can get cheaper''?

Time is definitely money, dont waste your time on something that is not worth it in the end, but making a small profit is better than nothing at all though

I definitely think that power leveling is silly, the goal of the game is to train your account so you can feel the achievement when you get maxed.

The main reason there is power leveling: People enjoy playing scape, but don't got the time to get the needed levels to enjoy it at maximum.

Everyday, most of them come back like week-2 later saying they got scammed

Powerleveling makes sense if you bot it, if you do it by hand it's completely waste of time unless you're passionate or get really good xp/hr ratios

It's worth doing by hand if you get paid good.
But damn you're dealing with worse people haha :p.

Time is money which is essentially why a lot of the time I choose to get someone else to do some training on my account or complete quests. I don't always have the time to do some things I'd like to on RS and I have no problem paying someone reasonably to do the work for me.

All in all though, it's a game and I wouldn't expect to pay them minimum wage to play a game.

Story of my life owning a skilling business... I probably get this three or four times a day. Just ignore these people. They can find someone to bot it for them and get their account banned, or they can pay for things done properly.

But really, poor people shouldn't be buying services like this in the first place. It makes sense for people whose time isn't worth very much (i.e., low opportunity cost or however you want to think about it) to train their own accounts if the alternative is undesirable. Keep in mind that a lot of people just want a cheap deal and don't really think about things in a logical way.

    Also, this:
I would say a solid quarter of my business is fixing accounts that other people have fucked up by botting or paying impostors.

I agree with Superfluous. I have come across this numerous times and it seems to be the current trend.

People expect botting prices when they come to my service and I tend to chuckle under my breath. If I was doing this for a hobby then I would take every order that came my way. Now that I am doing it for an income, I have to charge more seeing as I devote all of my attention to my clients accounts.

It also breaks down to level of trust as well. This goes for any market: gold, skilling, membership etc. If you seek someone who seems genuinely more trusted than most of the other providers, you should expect to pay a premium. The only reason why some people do it cheap is because they either enjoy the game and like helping people out or they are new and are trying to build vouches. I don't know how many times my service has been turned down to hear the next today that they went to someone cheaper and were scammed in the process.

I feel like I summed this up pretty well in my thread lol.

Like when people ask me for prices, I explained to them the exp/hr etc so they can see how much time i will be spending exactly.

Still they complain about it... Some guy asked me to do 3.7m 07 combat exp. Expected it to cost 3.7m. Yeah brb working for 50k 07/hr

Well, I also run a pretty nice f cape service and I must say, out of the hundred and something capes I've done, I'd say at least 5% have said oh wow you're very expensive, when in reality I charge 6m max for a 1 def pure. I guess the f cape market is more understanding when it comes to the price, but I'd have to guess the 5% that do question your price are, as zuzel said, kids who don't really understand how things work. In addition, as zuzel said, that 5% that do say I'm too expensive do actually come back to me like a week later ad say wow I got scammed my 60m bank gf.

But yeah when that does actually happen and someone tries to lower my price from say 6m to like 4m, I just say nty, then when they start flaming me I just remove from Skype. not worth the hassle. as someone else in here said, poor people shouldn't be buying these services if they cannot afford it.

The main difference between firecapes / skill training is that anybody can train skills. Not everybody is comfortable doing fire capes.

People will pay more for a fire cape just because they CAN'T do it.

Where as skilling, they CAN do it, just cant be bothered so our prices seem extortionate , While yours might be aswell, they have no choice :p
