Paypal Refund

Dear Sythe Community,

Unfortunatly I have been a victim to paypal refunds for the second time now.
The first time, the person that refunded the money stated that the "item was not delivered as described" and through the recovery process I was actually given right, and I got my money back, as in this case the buyer loses unless the good is insured (digital goods are not insured by PP). This time however, the other party stated that their account has been hacked by a third party, and in this case, if not insured (digital goods are not insured) the seller loses. I have tried everything, however it seems like I have no chance whatsoever. Is there anything I can still do?

Also, I wonder, what do the big trustful websites do against cases like this? If a buyer could simply recover the money like this? I find this ridiculous, how a buyer can simply demand the money back without any proof, and be given right automatically, because the good is not insured? I wonder how big websites can be alive, while people are able to recover their money so easily.

big websites must have methods to get their money back, no? otherwise how would they stay alive.

 

They could possibly just survive off the volume of legit transactions instead, not sure.

 

I would assume, ideally, that bigger marketers have better tactics at winning PayPal cases. I have been charged back before, and I do agree, it sucks. Although, I may not know how to win your case, make sure that they always write a note in the payment saying "I will NOT charge back, because I am satisfied with my virtual goods purchase". It gives them (PayPal) a reason to let you keep your payment.

 

Bigger websites have fraud checks, they confirm who's using the PayPal, make sure the customer has access to the PayPal email, etc. They do a lot to prevent fraud in the first place. Most of the time, the fraud is discovered before anything ships by either PayPal or the credit card company or the seller.. When you're blindly accepting PayPal from anonymous strangers, you're presumably doing none of this.

Whenever I accepted PayPal from people unknown to me, I always got at very least an email from the customer's PayPal email confirming their name, the purchase, that sort of stuff. Phone calls if you're skeptical help weed out fraud as well. I had a guy once add me on Skype using one name, email me on another name, and pay from a PayPal with yet another name. I called him out and he made up some obvious bs excuse. Refunded the money and called it a day.

In the end, common sense helps lots. Deals too good to be true probably are.
