    Paypal Gift Payment

This is a quick question. I am currently selling an account and have been telling people that I would require a gift payment because it protects me as a seller. As it is too easy to ask for a charge back as the virtual goods cannot be proven as delivered and it breaches the runescape conduct. I know a gift can be taken back under slightly more difficult circumstances, but they literately need to break the law to do this from what it appears.

Is this normal practice to request this? Is it an unreasonable request? Am I coming off as a scammer for suggesting this?

I have bought services here on sythe before, sold gp, and bought gp and it was always done as a gift through paypal. I just feel like I am scaring off people by asking for this is all.

99% sure even with gift method they can charge back on paypal. Like no matter what you do they can chargeback any method on paypal that's why no one uses it for new members

Any PayPal payment can be easily charged back, but yes it is a common practice to request gift payments. With selling an account it shouldn't matter too much as long as you can recover the account if they were to chargeback, although if there is any wealth or untradeables on the acc they might be lost in the process.

Ahh, thats rather upsetting to hear. I suppose I could always recover the account, but its more of an issue of wanting to use the money for something else. Would cause more of a pain than its worth to have to wait 45 days until the transaction is safe to use the money. Are there any trusted players on sythe that buy accounts for low so that they can resell for higher? Hardly think that is a thing due to the risk, but I am just curious.

Gift payments have no buyer/seller protection.

It really doesn't matter which option you use because it's still a virtual payment at the end of it all.

Soon as you get the money, have it transferred to your bank account and hope there is no disputes in the time frame so you can withdraw your money.

    Good luck

I suppose so, but what if I end up spending it? The purpose of selling my accounts is because I have quit the runescape and want to use the money for another hobby (namely Magic the Gathering). Should I wait 45 days first? I just do not want to quickly spend the money as it can probably still be taken back, right?

I just do not want a negative balance on my verified paypal since they do kinda have my bank account information. Wouldn't they have grounds to ask for the money to be re-payed back to paypal?

Suppose I could look only for more trusted members, but they typically do not want accounts as it comes with the obvious risks. Even if its a good deal.

You can spend it soon as you get it. I don't see the purpose of them buying an account only to charge back knowing the original owner of the account can easily get it back if anything goes wrong. I'd look for a trusted buyer regardless.

Ah, thanks alot that puts me at more ease. I suppose the issue would be on the other end for the buyer.

    Thank you very much!

Keep in mind with PayPal 45 days means nothing, I've had people refund stuff from me before 6+ months later, chances are less likely but it can happen

Ouch, guess it all depends on the scale of the payment too. I imagine the 6 month payment had to be rather big to warrant that. Hope you didn't lose too much. I hope that my sale which would be around $135 would not be worth someones time to going through the entire process (most likely with an OMM in which they would make payments to that would also need to be recovered separately). All while knowing that I could recover the account if they charged back. Feel like you probably spend a few hours to come out behind where you started. There has to be a definition of insanity for that somewhere.

Hoping I am safe in that respect. Thanks for the heads up though! Might as well just treat the money as mine right away and go from there.

Gifts does not protect you as seller, even otherwise -> it puts your account on risk of limitation for fees evasion
