    Paypal Chargeback

"A chargeback happens when a buyer asks their credit card issuer to reverse a transaction that has already cleared." (Paypal).

When you've sold something virtual (i.e a guide online), according to Paypal, you can legally get refunded because no real item was sent.
Not too long ago, eBay changed their Terms and Conditions, banning virtual goods to be sold on their website. This was to avoid all the major scandals that occurred.

The chargeback button has been a horrific pain to those who try to sell their goods and end up losing the money sent to them even though they sent the item.

When this happens and they claim that they did not receive their item, you should report it to your government through their official on-line site for reporting this type of crime. It will most likely not be dealt with, but it will add to the toll of on-line fraud which could affect the way they deal with this in the future.

To avoid chargebacks, when someone pays for your item make sure that you get their address. With this, send them a receipt in the post of their bought item. If you do so, you can provide full proof to paypal that you sent the item and you will not lose your money. There is of course the option to receive the money as a donation, whereby it is extremely difficult for the customer to get their money back. However, then you are breaking the law as well, because a donation is a free gift and there should not be any return item which connects with this gift. Effectively, you are trying to get away from paying taxes. Paypal will terminate your account if you are found out.

Obviously it's not something you'd like to do for small priced items, so this would really be useful when selling something worth $200 for example.

I hope this guide has helped you understand more about paypal chargebacks.

If there are any questions please do not hesitate to ask!

If your going to use this guide for your UE app then your going to need to add some more to it. At the moment it's rather short and doesn't have any pictures. Also try to add some color to make it stand put more. You don't want your reader to fall asleep half way through it. Good luck.

Thanks for your feedback. Though isn't it true that they look for quality rather than quantity?

Hey there Ritchy, just critiquing another few of your guides :) I'll be splitting my evaluation into two sections again.

Information: The first issue I'd like to raise is it seems you are just telling us that trading virtual items is unsafe and that you can easily be scammed. I believe you can easily expand your guide to include more information and attempt to make it bigger and more informative. Bubba made a valid point, and while the quality of information is of course important having a guide which is only 265 words long seems to show that not much effort has been put into the guide. The User Educators like to see members showing they are willing to spend a lot of time and possibly even resources on guides.

Formatting: The large chunk of bold, white writing is a little unappealing. Smaller less bold font would be much easier to read. (Of course not using the plain, default font.) Also I'd like to see some more images. Maybe of what a chargeback looks like, what your receipt could look like, etc. Just the PayPal logo doesn't really suffice.

That is correct, trading virtual items is not safe.

But thanks once again, your feedback is always helpful.

EDIT: Ill right now, so I'll get back to it later :).
