Organ Donation

I signed up as an organ donor when I was 18.
I don't give a shit what happens to my body when I die.. I'm dead, so I can't feel it. If I can help others then it seems like the logical thing to do rather than just let your body rot.

 

I'm an organ donor and have been since I got my license many a year ago.

 

Since it's referring to after your death, I'd have no problem donating.

If it was while I was still alive I guess it would depend, like I'd give up to someone younger or a relative/friend over someone considerably older.

 

Ya the register is purely for after-death. Although there is one for if you're alive, but I'd only ever give up my organs while alive to family or close friends.

 

It's not as if I plan on using my body after I'm dead anyway. If, by the end of my lifetime, they have successfully reanimated dead frozen bodies, I will back out of being an organ donor.

 

Personally when i die i want all my organs sent to people in need. Just think your dead who cares anyways, your helping atleast 2 people doing it!

 

i wasn't asked what organs i wanted to donate, as they just ask if you want to when you get your drivers license.

but what the hell if i can save a life when i die. although they may not want my liver/kidneys when im done with em hehe....

 

I thought about signing up. I told my parents about this and they weren't really happy and were against this.
Which one have you decided to donate?

Did you ask them why they are unhappy and against it? Would love to hear why :laugh:.

At the end of the day its up to you but do what you think is right.

 

I also want to thank people like Roary who donate their organs. I have never been in the position, I would like someone to donate one to me.

Ziggily: That is great to hear. I was not previously an organ donor but I will definitely sign-up to donate. There is no logical reason not to, imho.

I'm perfectly happy to donate my organs after I die, since I shan't be needing them . I just haven't gone through the process of signing up to the organ donor register yet - I imagine what I'll end up doing is putting a section into my will or something about it

 

Already signed up. .. It would be nice to help someone in need when this old body is ready to give up the ghost.

 

It would take some convincing to change my mind, I would like to have my organs to stay with me when I am buried otherwise.

 

I haven't signed up, but not because I'm not for it I've just never thought about it too much. I will sign up.

In all honesty we are already with 7.1 billion people on this planet, which is by far too many for this planet to bare. I do not think we need anymore people on this planet and all of the other species on this planet have a hard enough time with us. (No I am not a human race hater or anything like that..)

 

You can do it online, it doesn't take long

 

I'm a donor. Not sure why you wouldn't be it's not like you're going to be using your liver when you're dead.

 

It's not really a good idea.

I have a lot of connections to the medical world through family and friends. Organs are recovered from a person's body with such speed that in some cases the person would have lived if they didn't start cutting out things. Sure you'll save a lot of other people but possibly at the expense of an early death. There are a lot of physicians who view life and death simply as a numbers game because they're so used to dealing with it. They rather not take the risk of spoiling the organs even if you have a chance so they'll declare you dead.
