orbs suck

Wow, that is absolutely one of the best orbs I have ever seen. I like how it's at a side-ways angle. I will come up with something else soon.

@ xsafire just so you know my orbs are more like orbs then your basic crap.

I love smi's orb but lobsters orbs are very simple and not hard to make at all.

Stylus? Like, a handheld thing that I can write on and it translates to the PC? No, if so. I use a scanner or a digital camera to take a picture of what I put on paper.

 

They are okay, but not if they are used on everyones avvy.

Many people do use orbs as their avatar. Some are just circles with text, a border, and a white Gaussian blurred circle in the middle, such as Fouisgras's avatar, and some are very complex which I cannot describe, such as VisionEx's works.

 

I like orbs, really shiny.

The "belt" (or whatever you want to call it) is a bit too wide at the bottom. It looks a bit odd.

Orbs do suck. Naturally, I prefer my own over anyone else's.
I think the main problem with orbs is that the highlights/ gloss are too sharp, or barely visible.

 

The crescent that I used to make the ring was exactly symmetrical. What throws you off as to the thickness is the faint glow of the orb, in stark contrast to the strong highlight of the light source. I can admit, however, I could have done better.

 

I came up with this after looking at VisionEx's new orb.

On the orb with 'smt' or something written inside, the letters are not facing the same way as the orb. Perspective wise, it does not work out.

Yeah, smi you should really fix the perspective of your text.

Note not all orbs are bad.

Sythe used to have good orbs, back before people put a boarder around a circle and call it an orb, most of these people sold for 50k.

People thought why have an advanced orb when you can have a 50k orb.

The secret to orbs is to rape the blending options.

at the attempt to make one similar to vision's orb.
I also dislike orbs there would be very few that can actually look good and about %75 of them are probly made by vision lmao.

 

Atomic, also known as The Lobster, didn't use much blending options, and he made great orbs that many of the staff still use in their avatars today. The only blending options I used were the bevel for the ring and the glow for the orb itself.

Edit: The only rule on size is 600 x 350 for sigs. My orb is not a sig. You complained that my orb was too big, but at least it doesn't break any rules.

It's not like all my orbs have to face forward. The reason I made one was because I was inspired by VisionEx's idea to make one facing sideways, and it would be rude to criticize other people's works without showing others your work beforehand. I decided to try and make one before I have the right to criticize VisionEx's work; that is all. I really can't criticize VisionEx's work anyways except for the lettering, but the same problem is with mine because the "A" is not facing the same way the orb is facing.

There is a difference between orbs that are made properly and crappy orbs.

 

I agree with Jansen. As soon as I get back into Gfx I'm going to get rid of my orb and make something better.

 

Such a tragic shame, considering how fantastic we(I) know your orbs are..

Orbs used to be cool until everyone started using them when they started out with GFX. They became the thing to do, and everyone loved making them no matter what skill they had. Orbs were everywhere, flooding the GFX forums with "rate my orb!". Something good, turned wrong from massive unskilled retards.
