Opinions on the Syrian situation?

[Infernal Dave]

I'm a bit surprised I've not seen a thread yet about Syria. What do you guys think about it?

Obama has shared his thoughts today about involvement with them and claiming that chemical use was used by the government against its people. I'm not very much into politics, but I'm a bit concerned that highly esteemed countries including China, North Korea and Russia are supporting the Syrian government with the current warfare.

Thoughts?

It's just in the wrong section.

My thoughts on it. If Obama doesn't start listening to his advisors, we're going to be at war with Russia.

Russia has already begun to move battleships to position for sea attacks against us of we decide to be assholes and attack everyone Russia says not to.

Long story short, all of our allies are backing away because they "ain't got no time for that" against Russia. We have burned bridges with the majority of our allies and it will show come show time.

[Pretty Flacko]

I personally believe this is propaganda, the type which is made to make the opposing country stand down. I honestly believe if any type of warfare was to break out between the major players, nuclear weapons would be issued and the effects would be catastrophic. It could even wipe out man kind if nuclear weapons came into play.

Honestly main players do not want to be getting into wars and fights. They just want to become wealthy and trust me when I say they will turn blind eyes to what the Syrian government are doing for peace and money. It makes the world spin. It makes sense that Obama is acting like this for the reputation and the connotations he wishes to be circling around his name. 'Peace-maker', 'Bravery', etc etc...

[randomkiing10]

It's just straight up bullshit propaganda. I mean how stupid do they think we are? Iraq supposedly used "chemical weapons". We went there and there was nothing. Now Syria uses it? Yeah right. Bullshit.

They're not worried about Syria, the only major concern is directed towards Russia - they have the nuclear weapons and they're the ones whose threatening to attack the US.

[Xier0]

To be honest, I have no idea about the situation because the Syrian conflict is completely overlooked by the American media as far as I can see, which is a disgrace that there is zero attention towards international politics.

Governments kill and farm people. What's new?

Obama, nobel peace prize winner, wants to start yet another genocide in the middle east. He arms Israel and continues the Iraq and Afghanistan wars; Three fronts are not enough, now he wants four.

My view is that I'm all for action being taken against those who use chemical weapons against innocent people. Now by saying that I also think action should only be taken when it is clear who or what group did it. As we all know about the whole Iraq thing and the consequences that came from that and how that situation could possibly turn into the same thing as this if we aren't sure again.

Pertaining to who should be taking the action, it should be the UN and the UN only. If it has something to do with violating the international laws of innocent people, it should be taken care of those who are supposed to be the ones protecting those laws. The US or any other western countries alone should stop trying to be the sole protector of these conflicts and let the UN take care of it. If the US had enough evidence of a chemical attack, it should provide it to the UN and let them prove their case to the rest of the nations. If it is substantial enough then the UN should have no problem getting support from the nations.

About who I think executed the chemical attack claimed to kill over 1400+ people I could only infer it might have been an Al Qaeda group that could have shielded themselves as being Rebels in the conflict, and used the chemical attack to turn the West on the Assad Regime to boost their chances of winning the war. I could be very wrong since I haven't really read into it, but I'm just taking a guess. As to why I think Assad wouldn't have executed the attack (not his regime but him solely, one of his officers could have acted alone) is that is was entirely clear that once chemical attacks occurred his regime would end. He doesn't need to be a genius to see how it turned out for Saddam Hussein once he used chemical weapons on his people and how it turned out for him. I guess people could always argue that Assad knew his regime would end and he did an attack just to bring more people down with him, meh who knows.

Looking forward to what you guys think and please point out anything I said that was incorrect (fact wise).

First of all If the middle east every tried any funny shit they would be destroyed. Second of all our presence over there isn't for the better of your people it's for the better of our people, were keeping the major oil trade routes running smoothly so they don't get blockade. If you think where going to actually "help" any other country besides Israel your mistaken. There's an agenda and you will just have to see what it is when the so called "weapons of mass destruction" are obtained.

I'm really don't want to argue with you because based on your posts I'm going to conclude that your from the middle east and/or can't read. You called me a retard for saying where over there to keep trade routes for oil up, then you said basically the same thing I did. Bin Laden has nothing to do with this but he was scattered to keep Taliban fucks from worshiping that piece of shit like he's some sort of god. And the US could easily over take the middle east if they ever decided to attack us. We gave Syria multiple fighter jets, tanks, and other military vehicles to fend for itself. WE had to give them equipment to fight off terrorist groups rising to power, WE found a lot of the Israel militia to stop Iran from getting nuclear capabilities. If we have the power to keep major weapons out of Iran there's no doubt in my mind we could easily destroy it. The president isn't the one who runs the whole show, His main job is keeping peace b meetings and such with other world leaders. He has tried to make a change in jobs and social changes, it's not his fault a major market fell that literally effected over 50% of the population. Next time you try spreading hate because your a ignorant jackass, learn what your talking about or at least read what I responded to you with.

Regards.

Stfu idiot, your just even more ignorant then all the others that are from America and I'm not here to argue I'm hear just to say what I think and fact's and what's true and wrong. So don't become upset just because your faggot ass Obama doesn't know how to run a country and you acting ALL GANGSTER that your faggot ass country can DESTROY anyone when they cannot. And what is Israel please tell me they got destroyed by Lebanon few years ago why you think they don't want to war them anymore huh? Israel are just licking american's ass everyday to survive when surely they are all in the middle of the middle east and would get done so fast you won't even realize it so please don't tell me or teach me bullshit of yours.

[The Phat Big Kid]

I honestly think the US needs to step back on this one. Since when did it become the United States job to police the rest of the world? Think about the effect this could have on our own economy and also the worlds economy. You also have to watch out for Syria's big brother Russia. They are just sitting there waiting for a reason to start a war. First it was North Korea they were protecting back in April or May, now it's Syria. I think that Russia just wants to show off and start a war. The last thing the US needs to do is start WWIII because if Russia starts threatening with Nuclear warfare and actually fired one off at us, that would probably end up in a Nuclear war and would mean the rest of the world would have to get involved, and who know's what effects that could have on the world.

Something for all is obviously not meant for you. Calling names and outraging because your "points" are invalid is no way to handle a debate.

Completely agree.

Syria has no resources that we need which leads to a pointless attack. Essentially, the only thing Obama would be doing authorizing strikes on Syria is stirring up Russia and putting the country at jeopardy.

If Russia were to attack the US it would be catastrophic, mass casualties. Obama has to put his people first for once and reconsider his plans attacking Syria.

You also got to try and remember when there is war over there everything goes to hell in a hand bag really fast. Then Things slow down, and since oil is exported over there it would increase our gas prices and everything else because with higher rates to ship stuff around the more its going to cost the consumer. I think he does have his head right on with the people at this point. But I don't think an invasion or attack is necessary. Just a steady stream of cash flow to fund some protection along the trade routes and make sure they don't team up with Iran.

[Plznate]

There's an agenda and you will just have to see what it is when the so called "weapons of mass destruction" are obtained.

Cause that agenda worked so well when we went into Iraq for WMDs.... right?

Bit of an exaggeration, but logic for the most part. We are not the worlds police force, and we need to stop acting like it. We have pissed off too many major players in the past 2 decades, and if we keep pushing our agenda on the world, I fear the worst.

Then Things slow down, and since oil is exported over there it would increase our gas prices and everything else because with higher rates to ship stuff around the more its going to cost the consumer.

Bro, Europe and the rest of the "modernized world" deal with $7 per gallon gas prices on the daily. They do fine. We have no business in Syria. At all. I'm an army officer, I'm all about fucking shit up when need be. But this one aint our battle.

[Loyal 2 da game]

Here's why the conflict in Syria is such a tricky situation:

My whole assumption on the reason why Obama wants to begin military action against Syria is because on August 21st, 2012, Obama warned Assad not to use chemical weapons, and that if they do the United States will respond with military action. Then on August 21st, 2013, suddenly Assad does the one thing that would be a sure cause for the United States to use military force against them.

I speculate that The United States is interested keeping their own version of control in the middle east to control the oil. Gaddafi wanted the world to begin selling oil for the gold dinar instead of the dollar, and look what happened to him. Iran, Syrias good friend, wants to begin to sell oil for gold instead of the dollar, which would crush the United States' dollar, since it thrives off having oil sold with it. Maybe the United States uses the excuse that Assad fled into Iran for hiding for a reason to invade Iran in order to quash the entirety of the Iranian Crude Oil Exchange. They did the same thing when they told everyone they had proof that Iran had nukes.

Of course this last paragraph is just my personal thoughts on what might possibly go down. There's really not much chance this will escalate into a world war. Saudi Arabia, a United States ally, is attempting to bargain with Russia by supplying oil in exchange for Russia to drop support of Syria, however who knows how that'll end up.

Russia is going to do whatever they want, they always have.

Without getting too into a discussion right now (because I'm on my phone), regardless of what offers are made to Russia, they will retaliate.

The equivalent to our CIA, the Russian agency, is right next to Syria.

If we were to attack, there could be blow over - which is why Russia is so adamant on attacking the US if the US attacks Syria, to protect their own building.

Part of that deal was to include that Russias base would remain completely unharmed.
