What do you think the chances are jagex will finally start banning bots, and if so, what will gp rise to?

Just want some opinions, there is really no way of knowing.

Gp prices have almost nothing to do with bots. It has to do with every seller being competitive with the others to sell more gold. Idk where all you fools got botting controls gp sales..

Botting brings more GP into the game; as with everything, the more the supply- the lower the price. The less the supply-the higher the price.

If all bots were banned, Jagex wouldn't make any money. So chances are 0%, as Jagex is in it for the money.

... You believe gp dropped from $40/m to 0.45/m all from "seller competition"? There are so many other factors and bots ARE a major contributing factor.

Where do you think gp comes from? It doesn't magically appear. GP in game is probably at least 50% botted indirectly. Where do you think stakers get their gp? Indirectly that gp was probably botted.

I can guarantee if there were no bots existing buyers would have a hard time buying gp. When buyers have trouble they offer more.

    The price would sky rocket.

I agree, there's definetly a huge factor on bots as to why the gp prices are dropping so much. The only reason people are commonly staking many billions at once is because that GP exists, from money being brought into the game from frostdrag/sorc garden bots etc.

I guarantee that the reason gold is $.5/m and used to be $1/m a few months ago is competition. Of course gold's not going to be the same as it was when rs first came out, but also rs has become loads easier since then. This isn't just because of bots either. Bossing, different updates, etc. If you are going to blame the recent drop in prices on bots, then your very much mistaken. I'm sure bots have some kind of effect on the gold, but their not driving the gold down. Their keeping it supplied. Seller competition and ability to get stock are two completely different things. I could crash the market easily if I wanted to. Would that have anything to do with bots? No. It'd have to do with me being competitive. Only people that really have an effect on the gold market are resellers. When one reseller drops prices extremely, other resellers are forced to as well without looking stupid and not getting any kind of sales.

I doubt it's just because of competition, it's because there is alot more supply now from (Bots, New GWD bosses, new free trade) etc.

Bots are now chopping alot more yew/picking flax/hunting chins which brings in a load of more gp.

New bosses now bring in a load of more gp with these pernix/torva drops.

And now as you get everything you PK, no gold is lost from the game. Like before, if someone lost a AGS that would've been 75M out of the game most likely unless the pker received it which was unlikely, now, the pker receives everything. There's not enough gold going OUT the game

No, it's purely competition. I remember specifically when prices dropped down to $.55/m in selling. Busta had dropped his prices because he needed to clear stock badly. I then dropped mine after I wasn't selling good enough. So did everybody else eventually. Since busta did that, we never tried putting prices back up. As our gp selling prices dropped, so did our buying prices. We pretty much kept it at a certain cents a mil profit, instead of a percentage. This continues to happen all of the time. One person can easily control the market.

I totally disagree. While what you said about competition affects prices to a certain extent, the supply of gold in game has drastically increased in the past 5 months. A simple look at the movement of expensive rares, many of which have increased by over 100%, will show the affect botting has on the game. This increase in supply, COUPLED with the increased competition, results in lower prices. Consequently, gold can only lower and not rise. I am very curious where the floor will be.

Second of all, you could not crash the market. Sorry to burst your bubble. If you drop your reselling prices extremely you won't be able to buy gold anymore because your buying prices would be lower than everyone else. The only way you could crash the market is if you had a 100B+ supply of gold in stock and set a set price at like $.30/M or something. But as a reseller, you cannot crash the market. Sorry.

    True words.

Botting does play a significant role in declining GP prices. It is not solely responsible, but it is partially to blame.

Totally agree with kmjt and viou.
Mass Banning bots would seriously reduce the amount of GP coming into the game.
Less GP / same demand = less gold in circulation, in theory, this would ratchet up the price of gold.
Certain items become more expensive - less in circulation.

Not saying I could out sell everybody, but it's easy enough to crash market slowly. Even with 10b stock. Drop prices to a couple of cents a mil more than you pay and sell on Sythe. Just keep buying like always. Everybody else will follow or they won't sell any stock. Happens all of the time. Don't have to have loads of stock to control gp prices. It's more that people will follow your path no matter what. I highly doubt if your buying gp at .4/m as it is, then somebody else on sythe starts selling at about .45/m through player auctions/paypal that the market wouldn't slowly crash. Nobody would buy off anybody that's charging $.6/m. Anybody else that's charging $.6/m would just drop their prices and start buying at lower. It happens all of the time.

Can you explain to me how botting is crashing the market then? Botters have always been selling gold to resellers. Botters aren't crashing the market by producing more gp. The people that are botting aren't changing the prices. Their just putting more stock out for resellers to buy. Resellers are the ones who are deciding if they drop their prices or not. I don't see how more gp coming into the game is making resellers drop their prices. Prices on Sythe are effected by the top resellers not being able to sell gold easy as another person then deciding to drop their selling prices then others following when it happens to them. It's a simple cycle.

Nate, you even said when you were getting back into the gp market that, "as long as we don't try to undercut each other, we'll be fine". - Might not be exact words, but it was along those lines.

Edit: Of course botting effects the gp market, but it doesn't effect prices, just stock. More stock doesn't mean lower gp prices. It's amazingly easy to shift stock. If more bots come into play, it won't make people automatically lower their prices. When it comes down to it, it's just people not being able to stock easy enough and dropping prices while others follow.

Not true. They just simply resell. I have never botted my gp. I just buy it off people.

Sorry, what I meant by mass sellers are people who sell to the very trusted people (such as yourself). These people who keep selling you guys bils, probably botted their initial gold stack, then botted more, staked, or pked.

Even if they do bot it, their botting doesn't change my prices. My pricing changes as others do usually. I can still sell more stock than I can buy. I never have an overflow in stock. If i did ever drop prices, it's because others were selling better with lower prices.

Most people that sell actual bulk to me often are people that stake and lure.
