Opening a business: need ideas

Okay guys, I'm planning on opening a kiosk at a neighboring mall. Have the funds to do so, just need some ideas. Basically looking for merchandise to sell at this kiosk which I could decently upmark to make a profit, but something that's easily sellable. Shoot some ideas my way!

 

Does the mall lack anything / how big is it?

 

Is it a big mall or a dead end one with hardly no guests, what about phone cases.

 

Become a general store kinda of thing. Would be nifty to catch onto trends and things.

 

This is what I was sorta gonna say, follow the trends and sell them item, along with popular sellling items, like phone cases, etc.

 

HUGE mall. Has almost everything really.

Like I said above, huge mall. Phone cases are like the gold markets here; flooded.

Sounds smart, but what would I start with is the problem? I'm definitley not putting my eggs in one basket when it comes to merchandise.

 

Ok as strange as this sounds, look into customising peoples xbox and ps3 controllers, as every one mentioned above sell a lot of shit to cover a large market. This could be your niech' (however you spell it) as long as you can do it , great with the tools and have an idea ( may require checking out few video's) making customer controls or using blank phone cases for same could be extremly profitable.

Get some beats from the guys that sell replicas on here, and sell them for a bit more? you could get a pretty big stock?

Or get some higher end products maybe like otter boxes and see if you can get them at a discounted price for buying bulk?

this is a nice idea, could potentially have a good market. can even sell some basic controllers (2 tone/ single color) as well.

 

Phone cases and accessories? I'd seen these sort of stands before and they are often busy, another one which I've seen before but not very often was a stall where people could take their photos and they are printed on canvases or phone cases etc, this is fairly simple and has a great markup!

 

They're not going to let you sell fake beats in a mall. You can get in HUGE trouble.


What about cash4gold or whatever? That seems to be huge right now.

 

this is a good idea as well, but quite expensive. just make sure you have the right tools i.e. gold testing kits, .001 digital scales, calibration weights, need an in with a refinery, lots of stuff to take into consideration.

You can sell knock off merchandise as long as you don't claim they're the actual product lol.

 

Customized Xbox/PS3 Controllers(Modded), tons of people(with no real skill) would love to buy in person rather than online.

 

You can't sell fake beats.

 

Sorta pointless to have a kiosk in a mall for this. You really need a workshop like Imagine Customs. I would imagine the majority of orders comes from the internet.
A kiosk in the mall may start you up with a few orders but for that sort of business you need to be very well set up via the internet.

My idea would be cables and wires. The sort of thing you can order online for cheap like HDMI cables or Ethernet cables. But when you go to the little local technology shops they cost quite a lot. Basically for the practicality of not having to wait for delivery and lots of people need/want them asap. Hence the huge mark up price and available profit.
If the mall/area is large enough it should keep a constant flow of business.

 

There's a kiosk here where they sell magazines, chocolate bars, gum, lottery tickets, etc. It's always booming with activity from people buying scratch-offs and stuff. Plus as people walk by, they'll be tempted to buy stuff from you.

The mark up you can put on stuff like that is crazy if you buy it in bulk.

 

The lottery scratch ticket thing is a great idea, where I live we have power ball and other games like that were alot of people try to win the millions. Where I work its one of the biggest sales, If you can get a few extremely loyal customers (addicts) you would have a decent income flow plus any other merchandise. A popcorn machine also never hurt anybody. People are attracted to great smells (Personaly I love the smell of movie theater popcorn as im sure alot of others are). If it were me I would also sell a few different types of playing cards, for old memorys sake (me personaly). You should do something that you want to do not just someing to make an income and when you have an oppertunity to do both you just run with it.

 

For this though there are licences you need and probably a big hassel.

 

Google fashion trends, most people don't buy/can't afford branded things, so you can buy cheap singlets, shirts, vans, braclets, necklaces, watches, shoes, shorts, and then like cool shit that people will see and be like oh wow.
