I thought you couldn't get more than one clue at a time!

 

It is possible, and happens every so often, mostly from either when you use your special weapon when the monster dies, causing a glitch, such as the rock hammer with gargoyles. Also, I've seen it where you've killed 2 being afk, and they've dropped one and then another, on top of each other.
