Most young people go to the military as a last resort or as a way to escape reality. In a nutshell, an immature choice. They have nowhere else to go or so they think, so that's the only option. Over 5 people from the last highscool I was in did this, they didn't really fit in anywhere, and they didn't have the funds or knowledge to go to college or get a scholarship, so they went to the military. Early prohibition and the history of alcohol is what caused the age limit there is today in the US, and I think it kind of just stuck around, because nobody really found the need or the desire to change it. Changing it now wouldn't do any good, but changing it 40 years ago, would of been a good idea.

Most people don't have a problem with 18, 19, and 20 year olds having a beer in a safe place and they aren't going to be driving or operating any machines. I'm fairly certain they wouldn't be arrested.

I did a quick google search and found this article too, should clear up a lot of things that are contrary to popular belief. http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/Yo...n-US-Permit-Drinking-Under-the-Age-of-21.html

You can drink beer at (16 or 18) in Wisconsin at a bar with parental consent. Same goes on private property.
