Lock your runescape account instantly to preventunallowed access

so today i've had this situation happen where i rented my account to someone who, i now know, is a complete retard.

Once the time had passed, i asked him to transfer his winnings and log out, which he did not and kept saying he'd bot my account and what not.

I had no idea how I could get the guy to be booted off from my account before he did any damage (mind you, he still had time to drop my tentacle :/)

But posting on sythe, I got an answer which worked, so here is the method if you are ever in a situation like mine.

(I do understand that this could be used for the wrong reason, so if you believe it shouldn't be widely displayed, please remove the thread)

Go to runescape support center
Go to account help
Select 'I Can't login' option
Select 'I think someone else has access to my account' option
Then, select 'My email is secure ...' and click continue.

This will send you a password reset link to your email and will effectively lock your account until you change the password. At least it worked for me.

Now again, if this is not allowed / would be better off not being widely displayed, please tell me i'll remove the content of the post.

I just think it could be useful for person in my situation.

yea ... i've accepted 2 times not to take a deposit ... both times i've had my whip dissolved ... not happening again.

 

This is very helpful for people who rent their main accounts, this should be stickied.

Then this method could be potentially abused by the renter. However, why would anyone in their right mind go to the extent so as to observe and lock the account that is being rented during a stake? Both parties don't win anything but rather lose trust.

some scammers probably do that and if they did there would probably be a messy report i imagine and some bans, but i think it's hard to prove unless you vid your entire session

 

Kind of on the line on a sticky there sept. Also teaches people how to boot people off in the middle of a stake session, which seems to be the case quite a bit in the Report a Scammer section.
