There is a big scale rumor heading around RuneScape of over 750,000 accounts which are due to be hacked on New Years Eve.

Here is this text document I’ve been shown of one million accounts listed to be hacked. I am on this list which i feel both excited and nervous about!

I searched the RuneScape forums for any Jagex Moderator responses and it appears most of the Jagex Moderators are already aware of this issue. There are many different responses which I have Screenshots for:

My conclusion:

A hack of this scale is not only insane but enough to get the culprit heavy jail time. Virtual hacking is a federal crime and one of this scale is definitely enough to hit the news.

However the fact that the hacker has announced the names, and many Jagex Moderators are aware, changes my opinion completely. Being able to slip through the lines of Java Programming would be dangerous enough without having them already aware and expecting you!

I expect this to be a convincing rumor with so many high-leveled accounts listed, However i am still going to bank any expensive items just to help me sleep in peace tonight :P

I recommend everyone to have a bank pin, email address and recovery questions set up as your minimum account security.

I was scared this was true, untill I saw the Jagex mod's responses which made me realise this is a complete fake.
 
If he hacked 'the old nite,' then why is he on the list? Bunch of BS if you ask me, I'm on the list, I'd only laugh if he hacked it, call Jagex a fail, and finally quit.
 
The original makers of the hoax simply just want to be able to laugh at all the worried nerds, who might sit on the computer while we change to 2010, which is very sad in my opinion.
I hope the kids will learn after they see that nothing happens.

Er no.. it was created so that marsh could get loads of rapidshare points.
He did a damn good job at it too.
 
My only question is how did he pull those names?
three of my friends are on there one with no stats on the highscores and they all havent played in 3+ years.
 
yeah there was already a thread with like 100+ posts but yeah, this is a load of bull. i got at least 3 of my high lvl accounts on the list and even if he can jack my shit, oh well, i can get it back anyways. but its bullshit anyways

The government does not give a rats ass about runescape nor wow nor any other online game.
 
We shall find out in a few hours ^^, Even if it was true.. JaGeX wouldn't tell us, which I doubt it is.
 
Even if it is true. How are we going to find out if he does it or not. Will it be visible to us when he does it? Will we see something happen in Runescape that will show us it's true?

Anyone who believes this is a fucking idiot. This Marshviperx- kid is just a huge fucking douchebag who thinks he is cool because he can post a list of barely 1 million users (duplicates don't count!!!). Anyone can use a username leecher.

KB'd from my channel on SwiftIRC for spamming this: "Were Comming. You Have been Warned". Apparently he is "comming".
