Nordic Gold's Anti "Phishing" Guide + New method to avoid.

Nordic Gold's Anti "Phishing & Scamming" Guide.
    Phishing is defined as:

"The fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers."

It's a huge problem and there are so many methods in which to fall victim. Almost all involve the user visiting a "forum", or being asked to login to the website. Emails which appear to come from "[email protected]" but on inspection come from a fake email address - Be careful of this.

Common methods in OSRS & RS3 are as follows:
    • Creating fake giveaways & Prompting users to enter information of a forum post
    • Creating fake streams on twitch (Made to look legitimate with twitch bots), where famous players are "quitting" and you must see their forum post to find out why.
    • Joining clans where you must apply on a forum
    • You've been selected as a PMod and must follow their link to accept.

There has recently been a new method with the announcement of OSRS & RS3 Mobile.

Using Facebook & Instagram accounts claiming to be Runescape/Jagex - They lead users to download fake apps where logon information is taken. The official release is in 2018. Official Jagex/Runescape accounts have the full names. Eg. "Oldschool Runescape"... NOT "OS Runescape Mobile".

In short, the best methods to avoid phishing attacks are:
    • Always navigate to www.Runescape.com directly
    • Always mouse-over a hyperlink to see where the link will take you
    • Always check the RS / OSRS news section to verify any offer or promotion you've seen
    • Always be wary of links posted in comments on 3rd party sites (YouTube, Twitch, etc.)
    • Never visit an unknown site that promise free Bonds/XP/Gold/PMod status
    • Always be suspicious of any 'support' email, if you've not contacted Jagex Support yourself
    • Always be wary of anyone asking for your Bank Pin - Jagex will NEVER ask you for this information

If you think you've been phished - Change your password immediately! Changing passwords logs out any users currently on the account - Potentially saving you a lot of $$$.

Hopefully more people become aware of this :) because once you know you won't fall for it but most the time people only know about it when they experience it.

I got a lot of emails with this shit of beta version of "OSRSMobile", and I swear I do not know how people could fall into this. The link was very different from RuneScape Official Website, on the page they asked for the code of 2fa and the most obvious of all: The Bank Pin. Anyway, it is good to raise awareness in the community. Good guide
