I like the idea, I'd be nice to have another section where talking about porn, graphic images (not necessarily gore, not my cup of tea), etc, would be acceptable since it isn't socially acceptable in real life, or at the very least, it's extremely awkward.

On the note of minors accessing the site. You need to do the following:

It's the same method that tobacco and alcohol sites use since their products are only intended for legal age of adults.

Obviously, the issue of child porn must be addressed. But as long as there is no selling of pornographic material, then you're safe.

The laws on porn are extremely grey in terms of what must be done, hence you have sites that only give a warning, and some that have programs to verify your age.

However, both are legally acceptable in terms of just viewing, and not purchasing.

I don't think anyone on Sythe wants their CC or photo ID floating around. If there would need to be an age verification, a simple photo ID, with dob and their Sythe name next to the picture as well as a facial picture should be enough. Of course none of this should be displayed to the general public, only to an admin, or possibly a mod.


Also, if for some crazy reason there would be legal problems, Sythe would be asked to close down that portion or face legal trouble. Obviously, there are costs for both parties in order to take a case to trial, hence they accuser asks for the content to be taken down before going to court.

And they are currently (and happily) satisfying their urges on sites far away and entirely disconnected from me and the rest of the sythe community, as it should be.

I've asked the rest of the staff, and we're in agreement that none of us would ever see this happen in our time here at sythe. That being said, locked.

 

Stringcheese acknowledged that this suggestion wasn't going anywhere, but he still wanted to hear user input on the idea. I thought a good compromise would be to move it into community input

You are an idiot. An adult showing porn personally to a minor is indeed illegal but a minor lying on a clearly written out 18+ warning and clicking yes on said waiver bypasses all legality issues. (just like any other legitimate pornography website ffs)

That said OP id love for there to be a more true spam forum with no rules and nudity ect allowed, but i would be a lot less apt to post in a forum based around pornography (and lets face it, when nudity gets allowed there will be floods of porn threads) i get enough of that on 4chan. Wannabe edgy kids would just spam the forum with gore and DISGUSTING pornography just like /b/ has been plagued with for years and the forum would turn to shit.

Basically i dont like any of your suggestion in practice outside of the fact that staff could not infract, they need to stay the fuck out of spam forum basically (atleast if they are going to get butthurt and or infract).

 

Things get tricky when you ban only "some" of your site. Even websites with a sfw component require you to "verify" that you're 18+ from the get go.

We'd probably have to re-agree to a ToS if this were to be implemented (which it won't).

 

No problem. If you don't agree with the idea then feel free to modify it. The general suggestion is basically a more open forum then SF offers atm. How open is for you to decide.

Thats the gist of what i got from your OP, a no rules SF. However if porn and gore were allowed all the tryhards would tryhard posting nasty ass porn and gore trying to be edgy just like any number of other websites. Id prefer to not associate with any forums where people login and logoff with their hands on their dicks. Basically i just agree on the point that mods should fuck off in SF and infractions should not be given but thats about the full extent to my support on the matter.
