News/Current Events section

I think a new sub-section in the Off-Topic forum could be appropriate. I often see threads regarding current events posted in general discussion, and occasionally in SFA, sports and music. Perhaps replacing it with/removing Homework Help.. because nobody really uses it now that you can't pay for homework services, and the fact there still is a Help/Requests section that all budding UE's will more than likely attend to...

 

I would like this section because it works on several forums that i've seen, but several traits include spam, Most users will just view it and make a non-contributive message. :/

 

Yeah Karl makes a good point, this section sounds overall like a good idea to be honest.

 

Yep, I've seen it work on numerous other forums too. Recent news articles posted in OT have only brought about discussion (i'm sure you can find plenty of examples), even so you can always moderate any spam as per normal.

 

This has my support, I would love a place to discuss happenings and things liek that.

 

I don't support. I found from other forums that it causes mindless spam (someone goes to CNN and makes 4302 threads with every article). There is rarely any real discussion.

I support this, I like the idea of talking about current events and politics.

 

Don't support, will just cause lots of spam and the general section can already hold a few news stories. Basically it will just be a section where a few spam and the rest just browse.

 

Support. I like to hear about current events happening overseas with the international Sythe members.
