Newcomer leeway

Sending newcomers a private message as a warning before actually banning them is an idea I vouch for. I say this because I was just unbanned after being sentenced to a 2 week ban (it was lifted earlier). I know you guys used to do this. Do you guys still do this or was it just me?

I don't know about you guys, but I always read the rules and junk before my first post (or sometimes a bit after, then I edit it accordingly -blushes-)

What exactly were you banned for? I'd agree that PM / e-mail notifications of infractions would be nice... but that's another one of the things that keeps getting pushed aside =[.

 

I don't think stuff like scamming or blackhat activities should be warned, because we don't want people like that on the site either way.

There are some situations where new users get infractions where it would be helpful for them to get a PM reminding them to read the rules, but other than that, there's not much of a point.

All the stuff that a new user would get banned for aren't accidental things like bumping a thread too frequently or making vapid posts in SFA. They are things that would mean they are someone we don't want on the site.

Ignorance of the rules is no defence. Pretty sure that's how it works in real life.

 

Lol, no support whatsoever... I'll answer the two questions anyway:

Banned for: blatant advertising, spamming

how i used to know: I used sythe in 2006 and got pmed for infractions haven't used sythe since I quit RS. Now I am back again.

 

Rules are clearly posted. Learn to read them and you won't get banned. Denied.

 

Oh. Perm banned for ban evasion too.
