New users newer users selling rules

There should be a set of rules implemented where new users or newer users should be forced to use a middleman. Or a rep system gets put in place and anyone below a certain rep has to at least write they are using a middleman. Maybe I am not explaining it clearly.

Basically the upgrades section is filled with end of July or Aug users selling upgrades. Most are obvious scams or to me they are but im always paranoid. But almost everyone states "You go first or OMM you pay fees" or " Will go first to users with 80+ vouches" For someone who just joined the site it is an extreme request. Most of these are just scammers/Ban evaders going to make a quick whatever mil. 75% I would say are banned within a week or less ( <----Not an actual percentage used for example only) I am not here because I have been scammed (Too paranoid) But more because Its tiring every month wasting hours sifting through the current months trash scam threads.

***Let me answer some flame replies now before you even have to post them to save you time***

Most will say why not use a MM. I can rarely find one on or when I do they are always "leaving" and most times I tend to wait days to find one or pay outrageous prices of someone trusted. Scammers also know it is not easy sometimes of the day to find one so they will ask you to find one (They know you probably won't) they will just ask you to go first again anyways.

Another reply will be "Use an OMM" Yeah right.... If you can find one that would do the trade it will cost you usually 10mil just for the OMM and the scammers know this as is why they put it in their thread.

"You aren't forced to buy from that seller buy from someone else" I don't buy from these sellers. I am not posting this entirely for me but for the 100's of scams I see in the report a scammer section( Again the number should not be considered accurate )

I am not saying that new users should be forced to go first because that is just as insane. I am saying that they should not be allowed to come here and make ridiculous requirements (Basically scam traps I call them) indirectly making other members go first to them. They should not be allowed to even write you go first they should simply have to put trusted MM / OMM and choose if they want to go first to really trusted members. This way it would make sellers find MM before they make a thread that will be on and ready for when the seller does get members wanting to buy from them. If you have a MM lined up already and are legitimate upgrades seller and with a reasonable price I know from experience they line up immediately and buy every single one you have.

**The side effects I see from this is nothing negative. **

--Safe transactions for both parties
--Will reduce the number of upgrade scams from this site

Just an idea and don't know how anyone could have a problem with this unless they are in fact here to scam. And for you busy admins who have to answer all of those scam reports it would make that list alot shorter

Is too many times.. coming from new users. So I agree on that.. I wish omm's were free just for upgrades only. The trade itself shouldn't take more than 10 minutes with both parties having everything needed.

None of the OMM's are free. Paying fees just for a upgrade is quite absurd, which is why most people fall for the bait and go first. I understand most omm's have to make money, but upgrade trades are literally the easiest trades there is. I see no point in charging people for it.

Yeah it's their choice, but they're forced to go first due to the limited amount of money they 'may' have, or just because they feel like it's too much work to wait for them to come online, post on there thread, THEN having to pay them a fee which is 1/3 of the amount of the trade itself.

I do not see the problem in them gaining no trust, because they're mostly new users and if they aren't paying for fees.. what's the problem? You don't expect to be trusted right off the bat.

@5 "legit" sellers sometimes get scammed too and the only legit users you may find in the account upgrade section is people with shops that charge a lot, or the very few who accept mm's.

I say that upgraders should have to be verified through TV by a mod unless they have 20+ vouches or they already have a vouch for upgrading. That way scam threads can be locked down on.

Coming from a mod you sure don't read very well. I already stated half of your list so maybe report as spam?

Number 4 Not going to talk for anyone else but I don't just look at vouches. I look at the thread posts, the sellers recent transactions then I will move on to vouches and judge their quality. Showing sales through a trusted MM or OMM would mean just the same. A seller has 10 upgrade sales and used a MM for them and it shows in his thread I would assume it is more legit than some guy with 25 vouches for doing 20-25 mining for free.



Number 5 is just plain ridiculous. So members should just throw gold at these scammers to what see what side of the moral line they fall on?

Number 6 also makes no sense. Most OMM have a rank other than OMM. So them taking time to make sure the site they are a major part of is safe is a waste of time? Also do you think MM'ing an upgrade really takes much longer than going through hundreds of the scam reports a day?

Needless to say I never said they must use a mm or OMM for that fact. My first upgrade sales were all to Punkerpunk13. He was trusted so no mm was really needed and I sold all 10 to him in 5 mins. making it a rule for new members to either use a mm/OMM/or go first to other members till their account reaches a certain maturity level would make ban evaders / scammers think twice about returning to the site for a quick payday.

as it stands now new not so seasoned traders are being ripped off left and right like it's nobodies business which make them either leave the site, become smarter, or just quit Runescape and this site all together. It is not asking alot. You can still dump your upgrades to the many numerous very trusted buyers or find a MM to help you sell your upgrades beforehand. Lots of trusted free MM out there. But finding a johnny on the spot MM is nearly impossible and these scammers know this so even if it isn't stated you have to go first its still going to be the outcome and they know it and use it as a tool to get members to go first or live on a junky f2p world in Runescape.

Lastly I am going to make this comparison. Paypal lets people who chargeback run rampant on their site where it affects numerous online things. They are fully aware and yet really do nothing to prevent it. Limit or close your account. Basically you are free to open another account. This should sound all too familiar. Now if they changed a few rules about chargebacks it would prevent many of those I would assume. Not really different here. Make a few rules that effect only a small percent and basically encourages safe trading practices giving the newcomers a shot to get a feel for the way things are done and not just throw them out to the wolves would make not just upgrade trades better but it will be more like a tutorial for the real newcomers to this site.

I don't know why anyone would want to make a post not supporting this idea. Get scammers off the site or make them go elsewhere and teach new users the ways of safe trading.

^This is a terrible idea to be perfectly honest with you. The quality and safety of a service is not dependent on someones vouch count whatsoever so it wouldn't make sense to do this. There are plenty of ways to ensure a safe and successful trade that does not limit new sellers coming to our forum.

OP: This will never happen, and you are almost wasting your time by suggesting this. There are plenty of stickies/rules in place that help with successful trading. It is up to the users discretion to decide who he feels like trading with and restrictions like this just won't be added.

OMM have fees. so basicly they ask you to either pay 10m flat fee for an upgrade. Knowing noone would do this. and not going first if you don't have 80+ vouches is total bullshit if you just joined
