[NEW Update]: Litecoin ASIC dev Alpha-T prototype specs.

    Update: [12/18/2013]

    https://twitter.com/UkAlpha

Their site is currently down for maintenance. Should be up shortly.

    https://alpha-t.net/news/development-update-17122013/

    Summary

    ASIC Chip: 28/45nm @ 300-500Kh/s

Viper Board: Multiple ASIC Chips = 5,000Kh/s

Viper Miner (5 Mh/s): 1 x Viper Board, ~150 watts, 1u size rack mountable. Fully standalone.

Viper Miner (25 Mh/s): 5 x Viper Board, ~750 watts, 6u size rack mountable, fully standalone.

Note. The finalising of our ASIC design will not affect the end product hash-rate. 5Mh/s and 25Mh/s devices are final.

By the way, to give folks some perspective on the hashing power,

AMD 7950's rake in around 500 - 600 kh/s each, and they $300 - $400, if you can find any for sale that is..

The low end viper boards will have the equivalent of 9 - 10 optimized AMD 7950's... This will change the face of LTC mining.

Dunno from where u got that infos about the 7995 khash rate but before 10 months ago i got better khash rate with 6870 not overclocked.. I bet u will get better hash rate with 7950
http://litecoinmininggear.com/ this was not bad idea but its still not the best way and also not sure about how legit is the website...
    You can try with Sapphire R9 280X 3GB VAPOR-X :)

Twinfury USB ASIC miner is also option with 5gh :)
We will see many many more at January :)

    R9 290X get around 1000 - 1100 kh/s...

The 25 mh/s viper module is going to replace entire GPU farms with super minimal power consumption.

Alpha-T also seems MUCH more legitimate because they've been posting throughout their development stage since the beginning of this year. They will accept Paypal, Bank Transfer and Bitcoins. The reason they cannot accept LTC is simple.. Because there is no legitimate automated payment processing system (such as bitpay) for litecoins.

I took a look at that litecoinmininggear site, looks, erm... Odd. If they can post videos of live hash rates from usage, I'll consider looking into it further. I still remain highly skeptical about them. The fact that they only accept LTC also casts a little suspicion on it (for myself) because once you send your payment, it's theirs. Nothing to say about it if they don't deliver. Just a posted screenshot of the hash rate doesn't do anything for me.

By the way, for anyone trying to view the site, they've announced on their twitter that the website has been taken down for maintenance due to the higher than expected traffic. It should be back up soon, but the specs posted above are directly from their site before it went down.

And for those thinking it might have been a scam, they haven't started taking pre-orders yet so there has been no money committed by anyone at this point. They've got a schedule laid out where they are going to post a video on youtube of a running prototype of their ASIC with live hashing, complete production line set up, etc. Only then, will they start taking pre-orders within a 2 - 4 week period from now (approx.)

I already posted why, it's in the update. Moved it to the top of the post.
