New scammer method! [BE CAREFUL]

THE REASON THIS IS IN THE FEEDBACK SECTION IS BECAUSE IT SAID I DIDN'T HAVE THE PERMISSIONS TO POST IN THE COMMUNITY GENERAL! SO DON'T MOAN ABOUT IT PLEASE.

Well, to put it simply this had happened to me. I didn't get scammed, although somehow I ended up helping the scammer.



A = Scammer
B = Me (you)
C = The Victim

A adds B in regards to a service of his/hers or MMing or whatever.
A chats to B generally.
A asks about B's services.
A says he's/she's interested, could B send them a PM?
A gives B the username of account A wants to scam (in this case, C)
B PMs C (it's the logical thing to do)
Since C sees that A has "given" them a PM (it was actually B) he proceeds with the trade.
A scams C.

The only way I can think of to solve this is to make sure they post on your service/MM/etc thread before you send them a PM!

 

1. This Is not a new scamming method...
2. If you fall for this then your the moron...
3. Ask for the MM Thread.

Well, I didn't know it wasn't new. Plus, how are you a moron if you fall for it? They ask you for a PM? Which is what many highly respected members recommend you do. Don't go all e-Thug on me please.

I think its basically, a scammer asks the person MMing to trade, and he asks to Pm the other person and uses that Pm and say's it's his, Then he scams, and then he get's done, or something, It's stupid though, wouldn't you ask to see profile?

 

Chill out douchebag, even if you think that anyone who gets scammed has to be a moron the fact remains that a shitload of people get scammed here everyday so this thread is valid and helpful to some.

 

Basically.

The scammer has two MSNs. He chooses a medium-high trusted user on Sythe, and asks them about their MMing or services. He then asks the medium-high trusted user to PM "him". When actually it's the guy who is about to get scammed. Btw, on his second MSN (the one talking to the scammer, not you) he would of changed his name to yours by this point. Then, the person about to get scammed sees he's "legit" and proceeds with the trade first as he's fairly trusted.

 

Happened to some guy pretending to be me before :S

He scammed a hook but then we caught the guy after he tried to scam another.

People have been doing this for ages. This is extremely easy to spot, at least for me, and I end up PMing the one just not to trade.

 

This scam method has been around for ages, over a year. The only way to prevent this is filling out a form like this;

And, guys, to you it may seem obvious. However, for me, I've only been dealing within a blackmarket properly for around 2 months on and off.

 

i always pm anyone saying the msn i am on now is *********** u know had it tried on me alot

 

Just had this tried on me, i found the guy they were about to scam just before it.

Saved him $50 lol.

 

Somebody tried this on me yesterday.

These pathetic attempts aren't hard to stop at all, and can easily be prevented with a simple pm saying your msn and the msn of the person that you're talking to.

 

Somebody tried this on me, the pm from OMM said requested by so + so, so I figured.
