Love this! What is your take on the community in this part of Old School? (Pure/Pkign community)

I was heavily debating whether or not to try to make a Rune/Zerker pure but ultimately never pulled the trigger. I went ahead and made a legacy mode pking account in RS3 and had a fair bit of fun with it (a lot of griefers in that activity though, sadly).

Have you pked yet at all? Is pking active in OSRS? Is it something that you do for fun or is there actually money to be made if you're good enough? Interested to hear your perspective on this.

In general, the pking community is fucking horrible. There's a ton of shit talkers, you'll get a lot of "quit safing" no matter what you're eating at, good amount of rushers. A lot of it depends on what combat lvl you're pking at. Anything under 75-80 combat is pretty atrocious imo in terms of being toxic. Higher lvls can definitely still be pretty bad but nowhere near as bad as the lower combat brackets.

If you want to deal with less toxic stuff rune pures/zerks or anything higher like tank rangers/dhers is the way to go. Pking is active although it's relative. W318 Bounty hunter/edge pking is pretty active for any build really. However, deep wild pking and pvp world pking can be pretty empty. Even more scum bags in pvp world as well/lotta rushers.

With the recent update to pvp regarding most untradeables dropping as coins upon death I'd say there's definitely some money to be made with pking, now so more than ever on 2007. Depending on how good you are/how often you get kills as opposed to deaths ofc. You can always try to fight people to risk fight on pvp worlds as well but that's been pretty inactive as of late. If you're like 85+ combat no matter what you can make some good cash now for sure though as opposed to before the untradeable drop. Fire capes alone drop like 75k cash now. Void and torsos now drop as a cash pile when you kill people with them as well so it adds up to a lot more nowadays. At 85-90 combat+ you can get 200-300k+ per kill when you kill people with the most basic gear

 

Back in 2008 I was ranked top 100 in BH (cratered BH). I was pretty damn good at it but that was the only time I ever seriously invested time into PvP. You've inspired me, I'm going to seriously consider it now.

And damn top 100 is pretty good I pked a ton back in 06 and 07 but never really got into crater BH back then myself so strictly edge pked/pked at drags back when it was popular to do it

 

Thanks! I look forward to seeing your progress as well . I really like seeing the pure logs because I haven't done a proper pure in almost a decade.. sheesh. Sucked when EoC came out and completely bastardized my maxed Zerker pure.

I think that's what I might do though! Even through the toxicity, I think I can handle it. League of Legends toxic community has prepared me for this moment.
