A faster way to get middlemen and OMM's

A couple days have gone by and several would-be purchases went down the drain because I was unable to get an OMM fast enough. The OMM's don't respond to PM's, nor messages in msn. Not all OMM's have a MM thread. A quick fix is to have an IRC channel, or some sort of chat room. I know this could be tedious, but it may be an excellent way to contact other members of sythe quickly, primarily our Official Middlemen.

Maybe you should just consider un-official MMs.

Most people would be okay with using the ones that have a high amount of trust and just haven't gotten the required proof.

Yeah... what if they don't come on the IRC channel? It'd just be a waste.

Just use a trusted MM or staff member, most of them are free and legit.

 

Without sounding negative, I sort of learned the same thing in the beginning.. OMMs are just not as responsive as perhaps due to the limited numbers. I also feel that OMM status serves to support the OMM's personal gains rather than providing another layer of protection to members. Perhaps this was never the intent. I along with others have posted recommendations toward ideas to improve overwatch of Evaders and Scammers. These threads are located in random spots. Perhaps a recommendation is to have a Mod appointed/assigned the task to focus on improving security and overwatch on the OMM process. My recommendation.. Sythe could consider a "Trade Security Mod" or something along these lines. OMMs could then be considered a subordinate this Mod in his/her focus.

 

It's weird the problem is like a loop of other problems...

People can't get an OMM because their are so few -> Their are so few because to become an OMM you have to do a challenging application -> You have to do this application because the trust that lies in the rank itself -> There's so much trust in it that if given to the wrong hands they could cripple the OMM name by scamming -> Most scammers say they only want you first or OMM not a very trusted MM -> They do this knowing their are so few -> Repeat.

Fact is theirs flaws in many things but with how many trusted MM's there are if someone is unwilling to use someone that has had a lot of experience in MiddleManing but doesn't yet match the requirements to become a OMM then their either one of two things:

1. Trying to scam.
2. Trying to make you go first.

So the way I see it OMM is fine how it is but we need more people using MM's to get more OMM which will then solve the problem of not having an OMM when everyone needs one.

 

OMM's are always too hard to get scammers know this. They would always say no to trusted MM. I was talking to a scammer he said either OMM or a trusted MM with 300+ VOUCHES. I knew that second he was scammmer...

 

Some people don't understand the number of vouches that people average, I've probably asked for someone with over 150, which I probably (at the time) thought was nothing.

 

If OMM's were on more often, many of the big scams would have never occured. Maybe people should think about that for a second.

Anyways, it's not THAT hard to contact an OMM, though I do find it tough.

As others have stated above, try to find a good un-official MM with a good history, or a staff member. Usually people contact me and the other player "Wants OMM only" and when I invite an OMM the other player just leaves.

People use "OMM only" to make you go first as it can be tough to find one.

I usually give a number seperate to my real cell-phone to important people that use me, or people with big trades as those need to be dealt with care. I'm thinking of even making a Twitter just for it ( Uhhg Twitter ) it's just to make things easier.

 

I agree with badger except the twitter part =P. Although this is a good idea it's not really needed. As badger said find a trusted un-official middleman. Again though this is a great idea.
