New rule: In regards to tutorials ...
Due to the recent tutorials I have been seeing, I have come to the conclusion that a lot of you really just don't know what a good tutorial is or how to write one.

I know the people who write these tutorials probably mean well, however I think they should realise that by writing useless helloworld tutorials (which are like repost-repost-repost-repost-repost-repost-repost-reposts) they are actually not contributing at all, but making my job a pain by having to clean up and explain what actually happens in these tutorials properly (as the original writers usually have no clue at all).

Considering the former, a rule has been added to the programming forums. This rule means that no-one can post helloworld tutorials or extremely basic tutorials. There may be exceptions at the discretion of the moderators which guide this forum (currently myself), however for the most part, these tutorials are not allowed and will be locked or deleted.

A first offense will result in a warning, as I know a lot of you will probably either disregard this topic or simply not see it. A warning contributes absolutely nothing to your status on the forum, therefore your account will not be changed at all. A second offense will result in an infraction, and multiple offenses may lead to bans (again, at the discretion of the moderators who enforce this).

I hope you guys can see where I'm coming here. To summarize, these tutorials contribute absolutely nothing (even if you think they do), and they have been posted many times before. Of course, you will be allowed to post links to tutorials in your signature. This means that you are able to place all of your tutorials on some free webspace or a blogging site and link people via your signature. This helps keep the forums clean, and you get to advertise your works.

Keep in mind that this is only for basic tutorials and guides. If you feel your guide is of a level worthy of posting, feel free to do so under the following conditions: You may PM a programming moderator or a moderator who shows interest in programming to verify that the guide is of a sufficient level. You may post a note in the thread saying you think it is of decent standard if you cannot get a hold of a moderator. Posting these notes will allow moderators to know that you think your guide is of sufficient content, thus you will not get warnings for posting these tutorials; they will be locked with notice if they are not of sufficient material. This being said, I hope people will not abuse this exception or I may have to remove it. Likewise, I hope people will know when a tutorial is of good content and when it is not.

I hope I won't have to enforce this too often. While being a moderator may be a privilege, it is also a duty, and I intend on keeping these forums clean.

Thankyou for your co-operation. If you have any issues, feel free to PM me.
