New Recovery System - Jagex

If you know his recovery questions and original details, you've got a good chance.

Make sure you appeal on the IP the account was created on.

 

Everyone saying you don't need email to recover, please explain?

First thing it asks for is email and if you don't type the right one in you cannot get to the recovery form

 

So.. pretty much same shit pretty much just using email for quick speedy recovery's in situations like if i got phished ?

Recoverys and payment details still trump email am i correct ? And original IP trumps all still.

That is what I wanted to know. If you don't type the right email in, it does not redirect to recovery form. I am confused on that part.

 

So you can't recover the account unless you have the email?

 

The only way in which it couldn't work is if you bought the account, the account creater could get it back.

Just wanted to point out that the registered email has little to no effect on recovery of the account.

You are allowed to type in any email address which will be emailed the verdict of the recovery and that's about it.

The system still relies almost entirely on IP address for recovery (This is assuming you don't have recoveries set and know them of course). I think this post was created to ask if an account that has been bought can be secured by adding an email address and the answer in no. The account can always be recovered by the orginal owner.

The only thing that remotely delivers some weight to keeping an account safe is if the original owner were to make a post on the rs forums that they were moving and required the account details to be reset. The new area is then registered as the original creation IP which can be that of the buyer. I have been able to do this with one of my accounts when I moved to university. However, Jmods rarely look at posts and it takes a good week or more once you catch any attention. Few if any sellers would be willing to do this.

Wow I'm an oldy so I thought the update was the email verification :laugh:

Man that's crazy, just tried it and it denies an invalid email address. Create a new email address that the seller is unaware of and it's yours by the looks of it.

However I'm fairly sure an original owner could recover their account through the rs forums.

Far safer than it has been though for a buyer.

 

no you can type in any email in the first stage.. just make sure you get the 2nd stage correct so they can tell it is your account! happend to me.

 

When you try to recover an account that has a email attached, it will say "Please enter valid email address"
If you screw up twice, it will let you continue on without having to absolutely enter an email.

 

I just realized this. The new appeal system is really gay.... Where you live.. etc. Very useless update.
