New 'Name' selling market?

Hi,

Mark Gerhard (CEO) pointed out Jagex are working on a way to allow us to change our RUnescape names.

Could this mean that if say someone owned the name 'Pink' and was trying to sell the NAME (not the account) they could simply change the accounts name to something else and allow the buyer to change their name to Pink?

Not sure, it may cost a fraction more - but it's definatly more secure as it's YOUR account with the new name.

 

I would love to do this, information please? Proof

 

It's true that they're working on it, but they said it's going to be more like a Display name and not entirely changing your name.

 

Could some-one show me some evidence please?

 

I doubt you'll be able to do this... I think once a name is made they won't let others change their name to it, even if the original owner deletes the name from their account.

When and if it comes out ppl will start getting all the display names they can. To the point where none will be available, just like rare names today and i doubt jagex will allow ppl to walk with same names.

Your login is the same, but the screen name is different... and anyone can have the same screen name so you can put your rl name in it

 

It won't protect from hijackers, they will still login with their real name. Just like they will on Runescape.

 

there will probably be a flaw somewhere in this... there always is when they decide to make something to "improve" the game.

 

What I dont see is why jägex feeds into retarded suggestions that are useless (like name changing) and not into the mass majority of new pvp/old wildy. Like the bounty hunter subject, they remove it and instead of working on it they decide to allow users to change their names? Pfft. Jagex can't solve any problems about real rs so they decide to stall important updates (such as bh) and release ideas about useless crap.
I dont think this update will even happen. It seems like a horrible idea. If something doesn't happen it can't affect the name market. ^^

I wanna swap names between two of my accounts. I have a crappy account with an amazing name, and a great account with an awful name. Even if it's just display names, that's still great.

 

They do what it takes to please RuneScape users WHILE doing the best they can to keep the game free of RWT.

If you have any ideas on how to bring old wildy back while keeping RWT out of it then by all means, tell us. Otherwise quit crying about it. It's not as easy as a brain storming session.

Name changing is a highly wanted update, personally I would love it. Up with name changing, down with wildy.

 

they're going to change your name when you gets banned for a offencive name probly.. you can't just change a name or else u could hack someone easly.

 

I won't believe it until I actual see it coming from someone from Jagex.
