    Networking question about Ethernet networks [EASY]

    A message has:
    Source address= 192.168.1.5
    Destination address= 192.168.1.10

    Is this a local message or should it be moved up to the distribution layer? Why?

    A message has:
    Source address= 192.168.1.5
    Destination address= 192.168.2.10

    Is this a local message or should it be moved up to the distribution layer? Why?

    Also; a question of my own. Do the lengths of the addresses ever signify it to be sent to another layer?

    I know very little about this, but from what I infer;

    I think that this is a local message because the addresses are the same up until the final set.

    The lengths of addresses do not have anything to do with it being sent to another layer; it is the similarity of the addresses.

    Again, this is what I infer, but this is not guaranteed.

    You think both are local? By the format of the worksheet it seems one would be local one would need to go to the distribution layer.

    First one is local and second one is moved up.
