Do you currently have any savings already that you have invested/to invest? Do you have other income/expenses as well?

invest it into the stock market, while i can't tell you what exactly what to do with it, you should find 2-3 long term stocks, so that your 1100 makes a return of 15-20% a year. I suggest starbucks for one (Im at 8% return in 3 months) if it gets near 60 again.. Timing is key when you investing in the market, you could also ask a broker, but investing on your own is key, just becareful and look around the internet for tutorials.... I suggest using

www.investopedia.com to learn about some things in the market.

You first have to workout what level of risk exposure you are comfortable with.

For example, you may not be comfortable with putting money in the banks or financial institutions, and elect to put it under your mattress. A very safe course of action, but your money will lose its purchasing power due to inflation.

You could put your money in a savings account, and get a return in interest. Slightly more risky in principle. You then subtract inflation and that is your profit. The real return here is usually minimal.

The next step up, I would contest, is to invest in bank stocks. I'm not sure if it's different in America, I don't imagine it would be. But if you're comfortable with putting your money in x bank, there is little reason would you wouldn't alternatively put that money in that banks stock. You will get a dividend which you can reinvest, and bank shares are typically very stable. Again more risky, but a higher return I would imagine.

The next step up would be investing in a fund. You'd have to reserach the type of funds. Empirical evidence shows that passive funds tend to outperform actively managed funds. Do your research, and analyze what level of risk you're comfortable with.

As an aside, if you have debt, depending on the interest on that debt, often it is better to pay off that debt than it is to invest. So do that first.

May I ask how old you are? Or the vicinity of your age?
