Need video card help

I've looked at the specs of your motherboard here. Currently it's most likely using the on-board graphics GPU which isn't "horrible" but probably isn't enough to play any of the newest games reasonably.

You have a PCI express slot to use for a video card so that's the type of video card you'd want to buy. Personally, I'd recommend buying a good card BUT not the newest out there because of their inflated price. You'll probably want something like the GeForce 8600 model, powerful but it shouldn't have too much of a bloated price. I can talk to you more on MSN if you ever have a question.

Alright thanks, ill most likely get a 8600. And... do you think I should get somebody to install the card, or should I try it myself

Installing a video card actually isn't that complicated although it might require a power wire from the power supply to be connected to it too. It should come with installation instructions and of course you can find plenty more help on the internet. If after looking through resources and physically seeing what has to be done, and you don't think you can do it just hire a technician to do it in a matter of minutes.

Installing a video card is easy, its like insterting a nintendo 64 game, but a little harder. Also, you should know your power supply. Some cards have a requirments for power supply, a 8600gt requires 300-350 psu requirment I think.

Lastly, how much actually are you willing to spend on a graphic card? 8600gt is great if 50-80 is your limit. Just wondering, cause you can get a huge performance boost by spending 30-50 dollars more.

Yes I am going to do it myself, found a guide from my computers website. And this 8600(pci-e version) doesn't take a power supply I believe.

Uhh, everything takes a power supply. How would a computer power up? Im sure that your power supply is fine for a 8600 but the 8600gts requires extra power and chords. Are you sure the 8600 is enough? What exactly are you trying to run? It probably is but it always sucks when you always wish you got the other item.

8600gt/gts will run in a 300watt power supply.. you should be fine.

It just plugs in to the PCI-E slot and from there there MIGHT be a 4(?)pin power connecter. Shouldnt be a problem.

Sorry escolade, I thought when you were talkin about power supply you meant the extra chords and stuff. What I have ordered is http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3192396

At the moment I don't have a really good psu. My 4 year old psu is like 300 minimum and don't want a graphics card that will cause problems due to low psu.

Also, i'm a happy camper if I can run any game on high settings and run atleast 30FPS
