    Need help with physical rehab

    Hey everyone,

I'd like to start by saying I got into weight lifting about a year ago and got very serious about my health and "makin' gains." I went the whole 9 yards with supplements, diet and exercise for a solid 4 months and I loved every second of it. Half way through the summer I decided to not devote so much time to lifting and stopped altogether for a period of about a month. I eventually decided to return and made the big mistake of trying to go hard af my first week back. BIG MISTAKE! I don't know exactly what I did, but I definitely tore or strained something in both of my shoulders. I never went to the doctor but decided to put down the weights until it healed up. Now here I am, roughly 6 months later and I can still feel the pain in my right shoulder. I am unable to do 5 push-ups without feeling tremendous pain and I fear I have seriously damaged my shoulder in some way. What can I do? My greatest fear is that I may need surgery to regain full use of my arm and chest but I don't want to do that either because I hear it is very risky and can lead to permanent damage. What should I do guys?

You should absolutely go see a doctor and find out what it is that's happened to your shoulder. It could be something very simply fixed, but you won't know until you go find out.

If you absolutely refuse, I'd say very slowly work up against it and see if it gets better.... do 5 pushups until it's not hurting as bad, then try 6, etc etc. But I highly advice going to the doctor... If it IS something serious, "working into it" can cause even more serious damage.

Yeah, definitely go see a doctor, I've had a similar situation where i fell onto my wrist, I assumed it was a sprain and didnt go to the doctors until 3 months later.

They found that i had actually broken my wrist and it grew back already in an awkward position. For this, i had to get surgery with 4 months recovery time in a cast.

You never know about these things unless you get them checked out, it might be serious.
