Need help with my laptop

Ever since yesterday my laptop was working perfectly fine.
Now whenever I try to plug it in it will flicker on and off from charging. It will act like it is charging but then it was suddenly stop. I have figured if I wiggle it around a little bit it will charge for a bit but then it will start doing the same thing over and over again.
Any tips on what I should do? I read online it could either be my battery or AC adapter but I would rather not have to replace them if not need be.
Any help would be appreciated.

Take the battery out, plug the AC adapter in.

I did that, wouldn't even start up.

So I am assuming it's the adapter?

 

Its hard to tell. You could run diagnostics but the laptop has to be on the whole time while it does that.

So what does it do if its plugged in with the battery?

Does your charger have a light on it? If so, does it light up?

 

At this very moment it is charging, with the battery in.
My charger has a light on it, a yellow light.

I'm scared if I move too much it will stop charging >_<
Managed to accrue a 77% battery life so far, not saying much though, only have like a 1 hour battery life when it is fully charged.

 

What light is your charger normally? Is it a new one? They're usually green.

If you battery only lasts like 1 hour when plugged in, I think you should replace that as soon as you can.

 

Defo a connection issue with the port on the laptop, but your battery is also on its last legs also. My battery only lasts like 30 minutes now.

 

This just happened to me. It was the wire inside my laptop. I had to open it up and the wire was pretty much broken. I had to get my dad to fix it.

 

Think it might actually be my battery, I can use my laptop without my battery in with no problems.

 

Then its your battery. Although run diagnostics just to be sure. You can access it off your boot selection menu at start up.

Most laptop brands usually overprice replacement parts (especially batteries). What's your laptop model?

I looked around, they didn't look that expensive.

 

Yeah, some are and some aren't. Dell batteries take the piss, they're worth like £50 and on the Dell site they're up at £100 or more.
