Need help, possibly key logged?

alright I'm going to run through this quickly I just came back to runescape today and had my guard down. Some noob approached me asking for me to xfer some gold for him. I agreed, added him on Skype and he asked me to post on forums for him so it's legit. I had my guard down and agreed, clicked his link, logged in, and quickly knew I was phished so I went on my phone and quickly banked all my stuff as he hit my net offline. I changed my password and while i was in-game my name changed to some bullshit.... Is it possible I got key logged? I use a mac book

Possibly you got keylogged yes but its confusing because in order for you to be keylogged you have to accept the keylogger. Just run a scan and see or if you changed your password and all then you should be fine. Also a keylogger logs key strokes so just make a complex password and you should be fine but im no expert so yea.

 

from what you've said, I can guarantee it is most likely a phish since you entered your details into the guys site. Best thing to do is change your details now. The username was changed you said, so yeah he has complete access to the account. You have 3 days before the pin is gone to recover your account (assuming you've got a pin).

 

So wait, he hit your net offline, then changed your name in-game?

It sounds like to me more of a phish / lure where he'd get your password from the site, then hit your net offline and trade away the bank.

If you didn't run any programs or plug-ins he sent then you're not keylogged. also it's harder to make a virus for a mac, so I wouldn't be too worried.

Run a scan and just be cautious.

 

Mac's don't get phished is what I was told, it's called ratted which is same thing. Just run a complete scan and remove any harmful files and you should be good.

 

He can't change my password without access to my email which I only go to on my cell phone or tablet. I feel like I'm safe now, nothing came up on my scan.

Anyone know if I can post on the forums or e-mail someone from jagex in order to get my name changed? Current name is along the lines of "ig0thack3dl0l" ... getting a lot of pm's lol.

 

Phishing is universal. A RAT is a remote access tool, mostly targeting Windows users which allows someone to take control of your computer from a remote location. I once had somebody bringing up Notepad and typing messages to me haha.

Anyway, generally a phishing site is a phish and nothing more. A phish just means a fake website where you enter your details and they're sent to the phisher so he can log into your account. It sounds like he DDOSed you by having you added on Skype. My recommendation is to never add someone on Skype from in-game unless you know them very well.

There should be a thread in the Customer Support section of the RSOF that will guide you through the steps of getting your name changed. If that thread has vanished, use one of the more generic ones/open a ticket.
