Need help on my debt..

Well back last december, I got payed via EBay for some personal electronics. Had my paypal connected with my bank. I sold my macbook, Iphone for a total of about $1050. I was stupid. I accepted payment from a 'different paypal', and didnt even bother to write down the tracking number. After I transfered to my bank account, I bought new clothes, computer and stuff using ALL the money (this is why I sold in the first place.) The guy got his money back, and Paypal took back the money they had sent to my checking account, and I ended up with a $-900 fee. I never payed it off (I couldnt, I had no money, no job). Wachovia sent it to collections and I been getting phone calls ever since. I just payed it all off at a negotiable price of $450. Is everything okay now? I just don't want this to be glooming me in the face 2-3 years from now.

 

I don't know how debit infractions work in your country as you failed to list where you reside, ring paypal and ask if they have flagged your name for future loans also ring your version of "state debt recovery" for a second opinion, I'm quite sure you shouldn't receive any red flags against your name until they forward your case to the sherrifs department to collect.

North Carolina USA. I held of paying so long because it felt like I was getting scammed and there was nothing I could do about it. The debt wasn't through paypal, but through Wells Fargo (aka wachovia). They don't care about my story, they want their money. What does collections agencies do after a while, sue you? I'm 19 currently and I have a job (under the table though).

And yes almost same thing happened to me a few years back and i just ignored it since i used a fake name and only put a real phone number.

 

It wasn't through PayPal. It was through the bank. I guess the funds from paypal were just pending, and I used the pending funds from my bank before they cleared, and the bank was on my tail.

 

They won't take it to court for such a small matter they usually stuff up your credit rating so you can no longer apply for home loans, mobile phone plans or credit cards. That's how it works in Australia anyways.

Ring the company an work out some sort of payment plan say you are an unpaid student and give them something like $10 a week till it's paid off.. As long as they are receiving money I doubt they will act. I would doulbe check if they have done anything to your credit rating first tho.

Ive always checked them, the debt was never on there.

 

They can put a default of your record even after the debt has been cleared..
all depends on how long you waited to pay it.

edit: just saw it was over 6 months ago? you might be in trouble...
give them a call and ask them if a default will be applied

 

You'll be fine, it's not that big of an amount, and they won't take you to court over it. You're only 19 years old, and chances are you didn't have any credit to begin with. You said you paid the agreed payment off, so now just focus on keeping all your payments for other things ( cellphone, car, etc ) on time.

I went through the same bullshit with various ER bills, college bills, etc. You can always get your credit back up.
