    Legality of essay writing services?

    Exactly how illegal is this?

How much illegality is shared by each party?

To be more specific, it's clearly academic dishonesty at the hands of both parties.

However, say I was a high school student writing an essay for a high school or university student. We are both caught and identified in real life. Are there fees? Jail time? Permanent record (any chance for getting it off of there?)
Should I expect a suspension/expulsion from my high school? I'm guessing the recipient of the essay would be punished according to his school's academic dishonesty policy, but what of the writer?

Say I was a college student, do the same things apply?

Here's where it gets tricky -- say I've already graduated. I'm completely out of schooling with a degree and I'm interested in doing this. We both get caught. Recipient is punished due to his school's policy, what happens to me? I've got no ties to any school. Am I correct in thinking anything crazy like revoking my high school diploma/college degree or the equivalent would be, well, crazy?

Say I've got a job and I'm no longer enrolled in any school, should I expect ramifications from my job? Due to the law? Just ethically, do jobs commonly follow up on this?

I'm in no way saying I have an interest in starting an essay writing or any other academic service, this is just pure curiousity. Googling returned A LOT of conflicting answers, hopefully someone more knowledgeable can give me a better answer.

    Thank you!

Edit: And just to verify, this is still 100% allowed on Sythe correct?
Also, is it really a good idea to do this 100% clearnet/out in the open, even taking payments via Paypal, without masking your IP or anything like that? I'd imagine if you wrote anything substantial, such as a midterm/final/dissertation it could be followed up on immediately or even weeks/months later if it was discovered..couldn't Sythe/Skype or whatever else just give up your IP, you'd be tracked down, and be in a sticky situation? (even taking into account statute of limitations)

Not illegal but unethical. You probably won't get expelled from high school, but private colleges definitely expel for this. And yeah, Sythe has nothing against this afaik.

Pretty sure what Super said is bang on. However, if you're not a third party outside school/college and you're a student then you no matter on what end will most likely be banned from future examinations. Not sure for how long though.

These services can be sold in the IRL marketplace but buyers could face disqualification. Not illegal though.
