Need a new PC to replace my old one.

Hey guys, this was my old PC: HP Envy 700 Desktop PC Intel Core i5 3GHz 12GB RAM 1TB HD DVDRW WiFi Win 10 Pro | eBay

I've had her since about I was in 6th grade. Inevitably, it has given me many troubles. I am sick of trying to repair it and will be getting rid of it eventually.

With that being said, I'm on the lookout for a new pc. However, I'm on a very limited budget. I'm a college student. Here are two pc's I've looked at thus far and it's safe to say my budget is DEFINITELY under $500.

Building one myself is ALMOST out of the picture. College keeps me busy but if someone can convince me to build one myself I may look into it.

 

What are you going to use it for?
Any gaming is out of the question with either of those machines.
You might want a laptop instead with a reasonable cpu and enough ram to suit you.
An SSD is a MUST these days, if the pc you’re looking to get doesn’t have an ssd, don’t even bother

 

- Daily use, I want to be able to play OSRS while using skype and having multiple google chrome tabs open. I want to be able to watch movies without problems.

Create a laptop or create a pc?
For laptops, find anything with an SSD and a i5-7xxx cpu and you should be golden. For a pc it's a bit trickier and your budget might not suffice for a modern pc

could just upgrade the gpu and throw a 1tb ssd in there, that i5 is good for another few years, and during those few years pc parts will continue lowering

are you talking ab my current pc? The harddrive is shot I think. should i try n fix it ?

 

If it’s shot just get a 7200 rpm 2tb or a 512/1tb ssd theyre both fairly cheap right now as storage space is lowering.

 

Why can't you build one everyone starts from the bottom and im building mine soon as well also you can replace components easier as well

but like i said, if you actually need more graphical power just upgrade the gpu

 

I'd suggest buying refurbished parts and building your own, since you're on budget, you can try buying on hardwareswap on reddit to avoid the ebay tax.
