In my personal opinion I feel that it is necessary that the name sales rules are more clearly put in place and reinforced correctly. I have had a few recent chats with some very dominant name market users, and they have shown some agreement with this idea.

The reason that I feel that some change is necessary is for the following reasons:

- The section is full of spam on a day to day basis.
- Name Sales are very unique, and sometimes require extensive experience in this market in order to understand which goods are marketable and not.
- The rules are outdated and unclear
- I have read over disputes in the archive, and there are several instances where mods struggle to produce verdicts due to the confusion of the trade/exchange.

If there was a sectional moderator for names it would take alot of weight off of the shoulders from the runescape sectional moderators who could dedicate all of their time towards accounts and gold sales.

I will make an effort to come in contact with some dominant users within the names market to get their opinions on this suggestion. If anyone feels that I should elaborate any of my points, let me know. It's fairly late now and I may be missing some key elements and examples.

More moderators is on Do Not Suggest list.

If there is a lot of spam, report the posts. If the user continues, they will be banned from infraction build up.

Im not suggesting that there should be more moderators. I think that a section needs more focus. Even if they have the same amount of moderators, just one that's more focused on a section that requires more concentration.

Honestly, I agree with that suggestion. (Even though its not allowed)
Even with that not being a valid suggestion, the Name Sales rules are very vague and outdated, leading to many disputes.

Technically he's not asking for more mods, just allocation of an existing one to the market, which I support (assuming it's someone with expertise)

Additionally, i'd support a revison/update of the name sales rules to avoid future conflict.

Not enough activity going on in Name Sales to do such a thing.

There are many users that use sythe.org specifically and limited to that section alone. There are also users that sign up specifically JUST to use that section only as well. Moderators do a great job, but the section needs some more revision and support.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I'd be happy to review the rules and make changes as the staff sees fit. Specifically, what do you think should be changed?

Market moderators are responsible for handling spam reports in the name sales section - if you find posts that break the rules, please help us by reporting them! We'd greatly appreciate your assistance in that regard, but we won't be promoting any moderators just for that section right now.

Selling names itself is dangerous. With danger comes complications, and with complications comes disputes. It is bound to happen no matter what.

What are the revisions you are referring to? You haven't suggested any.

There really aren't any specific name sale rules besides:

Users will be banned permanently for the following:
  • Scamming: or any suspicious behavior similar to scamming (i.e. attempting to scam), this includes Runescape name Sniping.

First of all, runescape name sniping has never been against the rules. Sniping names that someone else is selling is what's not allowed.

There are four ways that names are released from accounts:

1) Jagex releases a rare name from an inactive account
2) A runescape player rare changed his name and let his old one expire from his account, making it available for anyone to take.
3) Jagex resets a name and releases it for anyone to take (usually because of RWT)
4) Someone attempts to transfer a name.

Taking these names are all forms of name sniping, and from my understanding:

1) Permitted.
2) Permitted.
3) Has never been addressed.
4) Used to be allowed if the person transferring the name wasn't from sythe. Unclear what the current rule for this is.

I've personally been banned for buying names that were sniped by method #1 and #2. I'm not sure whether staff came to realize this during my pardon, but as you can see I'm unbanned now.

The name sales rules definitely need to be addressed and solid rules need to be put in place.

I definitely think there should be updates to the name market rules and what not but I don't think there should be a mod just for names but then again I do agree there is quite a bit of spam in the name section and needs a little more supervision.

Stickies are out of date a lot, just PM an appropriate sectional or a global with changes and it can be done. We definitely don't need a Name moderator.

Here's where the grey area lies... Would really appreciate a response from Roary or Superman about this.

Which scenerio is acceptable, or are neither unacceptable.

1. You purchase a runescape username which you expect has been "sniped" from a runescape player who has never used the blackmarket before at all. You now wish to resell this username for profit.

2. You purchase a runescape username which has previously been sold on sythe, (maybe 2011, or sometime back in time it was sold on here). And the name was reportedly "sniped". You bought the name with no intention or real knowledge on how it was obtained, however you wish to resell the username for your own profit.

What characterizes a broken rule? Improper goods, or bad intentions? I don't think it's fair that every user that wants to purchase and resell good should be scrutinized because the goods that theyve purchased to merchant has an unknown history, when this market user has good intentions and will enforce the Sythe.org policy in regards to marketing accounts, and refunding if the account is compromised; whether it be from the owner or anyone along the history of ownership. When reselling goods, the seller is to be aware of the risks that could be involved. I personally think the risks involved should be providing a refund should anything happen to the account after reselling, and not; a risk of a permanent ban because the name is characterized as "sniped" from the market.

This is mainly what i do, although i do sometimes verge off once in awhile.

A mod for the section specifically doesn't seem needed at the moment in time, everyone can try helping with that.

clarified/updated rules would do some good for a lot of the mess, so long as people are actually reading them.

I agree completely, it's expected that people read and follow rules anyways.
Once they're in place it should clear up a lot of confusion.

Bling, or anyone for that matter, if you see something shady/inappropriate going on in the name section feel free to alert me to this and I will put a stop to it. I am generally on most of the day.

OT: Just notify me and I will help you update the rules Superman. I would love to collaborate with members from our various markets to make them safer. Even if it's a fraction safer, I would feel better.

Edit: I do agree that the rules aren't very clear and they should be as black and white as possible.
