Do you even name sell?

I would be surprised to see Sam go for half of that. Relate probably 50m or less, Versace even less. Gucci Belt is pretty much worthless.

 

Sam could go for way more than 2b. It's a common real life 3 letter name.

I might have been generous on Versace and Relate but I can definitely see both of them selling for at least 100m.

Gucci Belt could go for 20m to the right person, but you're right, it probably wouldn't sell. Don't have much experience with cheap names like this.

Sam is easily 2-4b. Easily. I've seen so many people trying to buy it so I'm guessing that's pretty accurate. Also if anyone knows the owner of versace could you contact me?

Because of the validity of the name "Sam" within the names market alone, it would gain a lot of value. Anyone who knows usernames well enough, would know that an iconic collector/recoverer is named "Sam". He practically popularized and invented some of the most dominant forms of collecting display names.

Because of his experience and inability to obtain the name "Sam", it indicated that the username is extremely hard to obtain because it's been very secure, yet very inactive too. (Wont be released by jagex, wont be recoverable, highly unlikely to be resold).

Of course its a real life name, its short, concise and noticeable; however, all of the less obvious factors play into the value of username as well. When you consider all factors; "Jake Kastle"'s price check is extremely accurate. Any user that even considers to sell this name for 1B or under would be completely ignorant to the actual value and the rarity of this name in general.

Even though the overall demand for names is low at this point it time, the demand for the super rare names of this nature is INELASTIC.

 

But have you ever sold a rare name before? how do you know the market? The name may have history whatever but many people don't care about it's historical value. You won't get get over 1b in today's name selling state for many high valued names, sure you may think it's worth it and so do I but we aren't in the dicing days are we. Many people who look for a name these days are just willing to spend a very little amount and don't know actual prices of RSN's.

If you want to price check learn the market before you even price check a name. Because random's who've never sold a name always price to high. And of course there's always going to be that one person which comes around every blue moon who buys a name and doesn't care how much he has to pay but don't include an outlier in a price check, BE REALISTIC.

Although I have just started my experience on this specific website, I do have alot of experience in this market, and I'm in very good contact with users who have been very involved. As I've mentioned In my previous message, there aren't a large amount of users looking to buy these names. When it comes to a name that holds so much potential value, it takes an idiot to drop it off for "whatever they can get". It's like if you have a very high valued baseball card, there aren't many people rising to the occasion and paying top dollar for its appraised value, but there are serious collectors that come along eventually and will purchase it for that value.

Although some people don't care about historic value, that doesn't take away from the fact that it does hold historic value. The target audience for names of this type is very unique and defined, but the value still holds. The point im trying to get at is that it takes a very desperate seller to sell this name at any unreasonable price.

 

We're not undertaking an appraisal of an antique that can be passed from generation to generation mate.. these are names for a video game that will not always be around. What's the point in telling someone that a name can be sold for x, but not in this market, not if you're impatient. No, no no. You'll have to find the right guy, the rich man who would trade the family heirloom for such a name.

 

ANDDDD thats where you have it twisted. Some of these names actually are antiques. When you're talking about something that has the potential to be sold for $500+ because of its historic value and rarity, its more than just a volatile username. With market users having the attitude you have, its only driving the values of these virtual antiques deeper and deeper into the ground. You're only contributing to the negative effects by manipulating thoughts and being ignorant to the real valuing factors. Thanks for contributing your negative vibes and thoughts to the market that needs more of an upbringing.

 

The only upbringing this market needs is more demand, and that's why names are overvalued in this thread. The demand for rare names back in 2011 was extremely high compared to now. Yet it seems as though people expect the names to be worth so much more. In real life an antique can hold a high value for years even though only a small group would actually pay that much. RuneScape is a dying game. I just can't imagine a three letter name going for $400+

 

& the low demand is a result of poor pricing by the people who have been more dominantly selling names over the past six months. When there is a high supply of names at a low price, all of the demand is over saturated by the abundance of cheap supply. That's what us name sellers are suffering from now. There is alot of hope and faith for the market still because the game in only going through a mere trough, its bound to peak again eventually. This game has died and come back to life several times, as has the names market.

 

Perhaps I missed something but I haven't seen any evidence of an "abundance of cheap supply". All I see are auctions for decent names not receiving the attention they deserve. And these are auctions, so the price that is reached eventually should be reflective of the demand. It seems as though you're trying to value names for the future (and one that might not be reached), not for the current market.
