Every day you see emo/hardcore people. In the mall, at your school, etc..

They call themselves 'non-conformists.' Meaning they don't want to conform to the way a teenager should be. Well this got me to thinking.

Emo's believe that by being emo/hardcore they are "acting out." But, in reality being emo/hardcore is on such a large scale now, they are conforming to the ways of other teens.

Emo/hardcore is a choice. They choose to say that they don't conform to the standard for teens, yet, when a lot of teens these days are emo/hardcore, aren't they just conforming?

exactly lol they are dumb anyways they should have known that it would grow

Mmm, Now that I think about it, your right. Everyone wants to be different but in being different they are actually just acting the same as another group right? So they are being hypocrites to their own mind?

i agree. i see soo many kids in my school that arnt emo but dress and act like they are. SEE IIIII AM THE REAL EMO!!?! well nah you don't have to be emo to appriciate good music.

Where did you get the 20%?

Top of my head, i know I'm being hypocritical with my made up statistic but I don't think there is actually a valid survey taken.

There are not many emo's in my school.. only 2. Well actually i dont see many around too, maybe it's because I live in Lithuania..

Well, I will agree that some emos all dress the same to stand out.
They are called..
POSERS.
I really don't think emos are too great, because goth was the start of it.
Emos all dress the same.
Goths dress how they want.
In conclusion: who gives a fuck? It's their decision.
I could say, "All gangsters are shit because they all dress the same and wear bling" and everyone would attack me.
Just because you don't LIKE emos doesn't mean they are doing anything specifically wrong.

the stuntkids are the people that stand out in society. The real emo/hardcore people rarely show face in society, so you barely ever see them.

I prefer to dress black, but thats just because I like doing so.

everyone has a right to choose their life style, some do it to fit in with friends, or just to experiment looking for a better image.

so....do emo ppl really slit their wrists then?why do they do that?... for show?

I think everyone should live their own life and other people shouldn't be judging them.

I was emo once, I started slitting my wrist and when I put the razor into my skin, I stopped and threw away all my clothes and scorned the people who made me emo.

I agree with the topic creator :)

Don't see why they do that to theirselves btw.

True. Hypocrites much?
'I'm not going to conform by listening to what all the other non conformists listen to and dress like them'

Most of the posers don't. They just dress like emos, call them self emo, and think they're cool.

The real emos that have trouble with life do it, and it's usually based on depression/stress

you know, they're more groups of people than your average rap lover and your emos.

There's people, like me, who enjoy some mainstream and rock, perhaps some punk.

it's not the emo that talks about conforming, it's gothics. Emo just hates life, and everything that has to do with living because of their own little crappy life.

Their only conforming similarity would be they unconformity. Hardly worth considering it conformity, otherwise you might as well say they conform to the population of people that breathe and talk.

True, I'm not saying they shouldn't be able to do what they want. I am simply injecting my share of constructive criticism.
