My Go Kart

Hey all Sythe.org users i am fixin up a go kart and i will post pics and tell the story.

Ever since i was little i wanted a go kart and now ive got a chance to have one.
I found the frame at a yard sale down my street and bought it for $20 heres some pics

I have just started to primer it.

Then i bought some spray paint and primer and primed it black

I have 4 wheels i just didnt have the last one on atm (need the nut.)
Then painted it with a metalic black (black with sparkles in it)

Then i got a motor from my cousin and its a honda 5.5 hp but it was used for a pressure washer and i need to buy a centrifugal clutch.

I've put some plastic fencing stuff on the bottom (painted black)(sorry for bad shots was in hurry)

I have bought the things i needed to mount the engine and i mounted it i also trimmed the bottom plate.
I need more zip ties to put the bottom plate back on.

I have found things to make a seat. (boat or rv seat padding and my grandfather gave me some ply wood and i cut it to size.)

The go-kart almost finished.

Other Things
Q:Why a plate one the bottom?
A:So if your foot slips you catches the ground you dont run over your leg and break bones.

Q:Whats a centrifugal clutch for?
A:It goes on the shaft on the engine and it has teeth on it so you can connect the chain the the shaft.

1.Buy a centrifugal clutch----FREE Getting one from friend.
2.Some kind a plate to connect the throttle cable to the engine.$?$?$?$?$?$?$???
3.Maybe new chain----------$10

Thats pretty sweet! looks like a nice project to keep you busy man...i would like to see the finished product

 

yea i have had it for a month but cant get the stuff i need (lack of money.)

yea i spent around $30 so far and need about $60 worth of stuff to be finished. I got lucky by getting a free motor. i can sell the finished kart for $400-$600 so huge profit but i think ima keep it.

Thanks and yes it will be sweet. I am going to get a better motor sometime maybe 15-20hp

If you would have read the whole thing i have an engine but i need the bolts and nuts to mount it. I also need a centrifugal clutch (google it)

Thanks When i get a better engine it will be a beast.

 

My friend and I tried to build a go-kart. One day while I was out of town he got a little angry and through it in a lake, I was a little pissed off and he still owes me $50... So yeah it is a fun experience just don't build one with a dick.

 

I think that its going to come out great.

 

It needs alot of work and alot of patience , But you can make something good out of it, Keep me updated on your progress.

Thanks peps i added new pics of engine and the new (plate).
The engine looks old n' rusty but it runs like a charm.

 

thats hella neat, have you watched Beyond Tomorrow? they had a go-kart competition with the top car makers, (Volvo, Ford etc). their go-karts went up to 52k p/hr. it was mad, they were so aerodynamic. good luck with what your doing
