My 7970 arrived :)

I would have agreed with you, but whaaaat's this about nearly the same frames? I could have sworn the 7970 was a little bit better than a 580, not close to a 590 lol (590 is pretty much equal to 2x570)

 

A modest overclock of ~200mhz on the core brings them to NEARLY par with a 590 and beating a 6990 in some tests. Still I'd prefer single card any day over the issues with multi card setups. For a single 1200p monitor it's more than enough anyway.
