So yesterday was my 16th birthday. To be honest, it started out crappy because of the fact I was sick and I really didn't want to go to school. So I toughed out the day and I get home. My mom goes and buys some pizza and cake and we celebrate. Half way through, my mom gets a call from my biological father. (He lives about 500 miles away from me.) My dad and my mom talk. My mom sounds really sad and tells us to go up into our rooms and don''t pick up the phone. Knowing me, I just kept my door opened and listened.
My dad was overdosing on sleeping pills. While on the phone, my mom kept telling my dad to stay awake. My grandma was calling the police and paramedics to get down there and get to him before he went unconscious.
Now I am a pretty tough guy. I don't cry over things that are not worth crying about. But, I go up to my phone and I hear my dad telling my mom this, "You take good care of my kids. It will all be over soon. I am sorry I have been a failure to them and you for all of the time I have known you guys."
It didn't all end bad. My dad refused to get into the ambulance. So I got on the phone and said this, "You know, you always told me that suicide was the p*ssy way out of things. Now you are just going to go against everything that you have told me since I was a little kid?" I didn't know what happened after that. Quite frankly, I was scared to death because he quit talking all together. But apparently he got onto the ambulance and they took him there in time.
Now this is where I start to get pissed off. He gets taken to the hospital. He gets his stomach pumped. THEY RELEASE HIM THAT NIGHT. Are you serious? I thought it was mandatory that people stay for 72hrs for psych evaluation. But apparently not. He gets released 3 damn hours after he attempts suicide.
So apparently you can talk about suicide, drink a lot and then attempt to overdose. And they will let you out that day. What a wonderful world we live in, huh.
If you read through this, I just wanted to thank you because I really had to get this off my chest. I got no sleep last night. And I have been the most pissed off person all day.
