Considering you are 16, you should probably go with your mother. From your description it sounds like your mother will most likely need someone there for emotional support, and although change can be scary in this situation it is probably the best. Although if your mother has someone else and you do have a close relationship with your father and don't mind his life style he may be the way to do. But remember having an alcoholic parent can be quite horrible. Overall i would recommend mother.

Good luck.

I'de say go with your mom. It's a change in scene. See how it treats you. If that doesn't work out you could always come back.

Why don't you consider moving out? You'll be 17 around the time when your mother leaves. You could ask her to pay for a percentage of a flat rentage if you're short for example and you could ask some friends to move in so it doesn't cost as much. If you feel that you're not ready yet then I would probably go with her. Who knows what to expect? Don't assume the negatives because it's new to you I would at least try it out. Good luck.

Go with your mom, you're family won't be too far away and neither will your friends so a trip to see them can happen every once in a while. With your mom moving up there, as you've already said emotionally unstable, she certainly won't benefit from being alone and your company may keep her happy. You will meet new people of course, and I'm sure you could find a job somewhere around where you live. Good luck with your decision, hope all goes well.

It depends on how long your mother is going to stay there, if its for an extended period of time... I'd consider moving but however if its for a short period of time, I'd stay in the current location ( no point changing school then changing back :S).

My opinion anyways >.>
