Usually when I finish a major series i'll watch a few movies before starting a new one. Any suggestions? Seen a lot but also haven't seen a lot of so nothing's too obvious to suggest more than likely. If possible list why it's good/what genre/who is in it/maybe give a bit of the story but no spoilers pls and ty.

Troy, Se7en, Law Abiding Citizen, Friday Night Lights (movie and show are both great), Superbad, Interstellar, or 300. I think they're all fairly known movies but they're great IMO.

Jagten from 2012, Oscar nominated, lost against a good movie.

It's a film on how an innocent lie can really fuck everything in our life, and can even chases us even if time has pased.

my other recommendation would be Abre los Ojos Spanish movie from the Director Alejandro Amenabar, It even has a Hollywood remake, called Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise on the lead.

The movie is about a handsome youngman who falls his soulmate, only to have an accident the next day, and have his face desfigurated.

Mainly comedy or action, some other stuff. You can pretty much rule out anything horror related as most of it just doesn't interest me unless it's more of a sarcastic/satirical horror flick.
Assuming the second one isn't in English? :L

Neither of them are in english. Jagten is From Denmark/Danish, and Abre los ojos, its from Spain/spanish. You can watch the remake, Vanilla Sky. It's basically the same story.

What i did this summer was write down a list of my 5 all time favorite movies, find out the director, and watch that director's highest rated movies. Was extremely effective in finding movies preferable to my taste!

Shawshank Redemption, Gladiator, Schindler's List, Forrest Gump i've seen.

LoTR I prefer to watch series all at once so that's probably not gonna happen for a bit since that's quite a bit to watch, i'll probably watch them at some point though. Seen some of them / parts of others and yeah they're good.

A good friend of mine with similar tastes in movies/shows told me he watched Citizen Kane and it definitely wasn't worth watching so i'm not sure i'll be checking it out, from what i've read about the story etc. it doesn't sound like something i'd enjoy.

Rest I will probably check out, definitely at least some of them. Definitely Saving Private Ryan / Inception / probably the Godfather movies as well.
I've done a lot of this as well not only with the same director but the same actors and yeah it usually works.
I'll probably check these out as well
