    Issue:

Based on the comment above. I'm not sure the rate of these types of scams, but based on different sections it may vary more.

Also an example which comes to mind was a report on Won Gold. Which I believe the pm was sent by Won Gold, but the skype was an imposter.
    Here: http://www.sythe.org/report-scammer-archive/1879439-scammed-won_gold-o_0-a.html

    Suggestion:

It came to my train of thought that, it should be a requirement to ask people who have Sythe accounts/provide their profile link. To first fill out the form on said persons thread, whether it be say a Middleman thread or Gold Swapping threads etc.

Zuzel111 does this, or did this when I first swapped GP with him. I'm not sure if it's currently allowed or not? But I believe it will minimize imposter scams.

    Example:

Won_Gold's imposter provides Vaseline's profile link to Won_Gold in pretence of it being Vaselines Sythe account.
Instead of Won_Gold willynilly sending a pm to this person.
Won_Gold can request the person giving the profile link (imposter) to fill out the form on his thread, and then he will pm the person filling out the form.

Clearly the imposter cannot post on Won_Golds's thread in pretence of being Vaseline.

Et Voilà minimize chance of scams.

    Possible faults:

    That I can think of;

Increase in spam? But the chances of stopping imposter scams out ways this.
May be against the rules currently to fill out forms on threads.

Edit: This doesn't exactly cover those who don't have accounts, but imposters seem to work this way.

Edit#2: Not sure if this is currently a suggestion, I'm not sure I saw it in the list, I haven't done much research into it.

    Tell me what ya think.

To be honest there is no need in this and it will never be passed. Sythe has always been a place that the users are in charge of there on security. Its as easy as just both you and the person your trading with or mm. Send each other a small copy of some of the chat from skype as a pm on sythe.

Bam as easy as that now your sure who you are talking to. Most people get scammed because they are in a rush or not double checking things. Iv personally never once been scammed on this site. Reason being I double check everything before a trade.

You can't stupid proof stuff like this and sythe is a free market we can't force users to post stuff they don't want to

Upon reading that thread, the quote below, minus R2's relativity, I strongly agree with.

For the reasons I stated in OP, with the chance of imposter scammers being reduced, I believe the rule should be changed.

For someone who is new or un-knowing, and an imposter would be cleverly decisive. I'm not sure how it all works specifically, but seemingly they have been getting away with it.

    Edit:

    @Above two posts.

For those who are wanting to trade safely, it'd better them.

    Counter suggestion:

Should you not follow a form that includes like a "my skype" "your skype" and "chat logs", maybe the person who sent the PM that led to the other user getting scammed by the impostor would be responsible. Confusing, ik, couldn't think of a better way to word it. Example:

    > Person A is trying to trade something
    > Impostor adds random Person B
    > Person B person asks for pm
    > Impostor has Person A send a pm to Person B
    > Person A pms them saying they're talking, without any skypes or chat logs
    > Person B gets scammed
    > Person A is responsible and needs to refund Person B
    > Person A needs to use a more secure pm in the future.

Don't really think that is a possibility either, but that eliminates harsh trading restrictions, yet also promotes safe trading.

Exactly what I was trying to say but in way better words. Not that it should be made a rule of course but everyone should do something along those lines. As already stated tho 99% of your safety in trading is in your own hands. If someone cant take the time to Make 100% sure of who they are talking to, then I have no sympathy for them being scammed to be honest.

This I read down in the Report a Spammer Section, which also could be an addition or counter suggestion and should be more available to read.

@Wafer Man, in all honesty as a community who do not like scamming, we should be implementing tactics to help prevent scamming rather then allowing people to go about as their business, and that's already being done with the countless amounts of stickies etc. So it's not so much a free forum of trading, when we're advised on how-to-best-trade.

Either way, Op I still think it'd benefit a lot of customers, put an end to the imposter scammers. Alternatively the req of that PM form, or to advertise this more.

How would you enforce that? Keep in mind, the purpose of the market is to be a free market, and non restrictive to users. Requiring forms, while great on paper, is not exactly the best way to tackle the problem. Not only that, it is extremely hard to enforce. Would you really implement market bans based on people forgetting / not using those types of PMs? You know how many people don't read the stickies, it'd be highly inefficient. I'm all for proactive measures put in place instead of reactive, but in this case, this isn't something that can be reasonably put in place in a proactive manner.

More so publicize on the Pm situation, seeing as I found it in the Report a Scammer section. When I was relatively new to this place, I did not touch Report a Scammer seemingly, because it's not in a new persons interests to know theirs scammers at every single section. Not a good look honestly. Making this a requirement would be hard to enforce, that's true.

On the subject of requiring a form fill out, anyone who is wanting to maintain their reputation and to ensure their not getting scam reports because of imposters, would most likely benefit from requiring these. Yes I can assume some traders may be lazy. But I'm sure this is something some people already do, namely Zuzel111, seeing as I wasn't told that I had an option in filling out his form. I guess theirs already doubt with whether this rule is being enforced, seeing as a Sythe staff don't follow to it either.

This is a free market and restrictions like this will not be placed upon our marketeers.
