How do you earn keys other than buying them? Basically from how I understand it, you can actually earn money by playing the game? That sounds epic.

 

Actual USD, some people pay tons for some of these skins.

I think its Steam that controls it in the end.

I get them from trading or buying them from people that want to sell out.

 

Pretty sure that's worth around 1500 keys depending on float. Is that Device's by any chance?

Edit: Just checked his inven, it isn't. Figured you 2 were from the same country, and you suddenly get a hold of the same knife he was trying to sell told me maybe you bought it. He was attempting to sell his for 2000 keys I believe.

Actual USD. Steam currency is worth ~70% of the actual value because you can't really cash it out. But people have taken into account that cut. Sharky's knife, for example, is worth around $2500.

 

I think i bought it for way less than that. 1200 keys, when sold its a profit of 900 usd for me and my friend to share.

900 profit when it's sold for 1200 keys? Also after a quick add up, looks like your items were worth like 950 keys. But we all know how QS is a big thing now and I'd only count that as 800 pure. Amazing deal, it's got a great float too. Can't believe someone downgraded to that kind of stuff, multiple $10-50 items.

and some was also from my dragon lore downgrade, which i got overpay for.

Post it on reddit for 1500 keys, it will probably sell quick as I haven't seen any listed for less than 1800 keys. At the very least it will get dozens of upvotes for visibility.

 

So even though they're worth a lot of money you can't cash out? So what's the point if it's all in game currency.

 

I think I might have missed some conversation but you can cash out csgo items.

Its the same as every other in game currency including Runescape gold. You can't cashout directly through the game or anything, but you can cash out via forums, websites, etc.

Edit: Further clarification, items in CSGO are generally priced in terms of "keys" which are similar to a currency. Keys are worth about $2 each, so an item that costs 900 keys can be roughly valued at 1800 real US Dollars.

 

To add onto this, you can buy a key from the game itself or the community market for ~$2.5. Basically when cashing out, you won't get anywhere near the full amount. Not to mention when selling it on the steam market, the money goes into your steam wallet to purchase from the market or games and there's a 15% tax when selling on the market.

 

Probably a Karambit Fade FN with full fade that I unboxed pretty early after I started playing CSGO

 

All karambit fades have full fades. Their fade is unique and different than the other knives. Right know Kara fade's prices can vary anywhere from 200 keys to 450. Here's a guide. 30/70 is the worst and a true 90/10 is the best. Great unbox btw.
