More ranks for GFX section

PLEASE MOVE TO SUGGESTIONS MY FAULT


Hey, well all of you who somewhat visit the gfx section probably know who I am so lets get straight to the point.


Basis for my idea :

I personally think that when it come's to specific things like Gfx (sense it's more of a art then just business ), people who earn the respect and awe of the community are sort of deserving something a little more. The reason I'm suggesting this is because I understand the sythe administration can not just go around making every good gfx artist a GFX MOD, that would be absurd and people would power trip. Another big thing is inspiration, I know plenty of people who would love to start gfx but have no real reason, I mean to be honest when it comes to sythe , gfx has to be one of the lowest profit jobs (more of a side job), and when there's around 3 big threads in the first page of post (mine 100+ replies, wooots 150+ replies, and then of course tribal) it can be a bit discouraging as to see that you feel no one will want to use yours/look at yours, but having the feeling and knowing that you could earn a title that represents your skill level that could increase your stature in the community and get you more clients.



My idea:

Have anywhere from 2-5 ranks (note.. there will be no beginner, mediocre,ect it would be more like the specific type of art you have mastered or something specfic)


(symbols) name of rank (symbols) (like donor ranks)
or
Custom designed name


I don't really think they should have any extra abilities , maybe just to edit a thread, sticky something, nothing to powerful such as ban, ect.

The positions must be applied for and not only approved by the staff but the community also.

I'm still toying with the idea, i'd be happy to do all the work (such as creating symbols ect). I'd app all CnC on the idea, throw in suggestions about what you think is good, should be changed,removed or added!

Too confusing and complicated - it'll never work.

EDIT: Plus this isn't necessary considering how small the GFX section is. In my opinion, you only created this thread because you, personally, what some type of rank/title. Because let's be honest, if they actually did follow through with this, you'd be infuriated if you weren't given a rank.

No support, the whole idea just sounds inrealistic. It's also on the do not suggest list twice for suggesting ranks and for moderation powers for non staff.

 

Let your art speak for itself. It's the one section where people can instantly compare something tangible against another user. It should the section which least needs a rank to display your skill or prowess.

Quality work will get you all the attention you need.

Also, in the suggestion sticky it says don't suggest ranks. If mods see a rank fit for a certain person/section they'll bestow the rank upon them. Asking for ranks/trying to make new ones is just no.

 

No way, That ruins the purpose of getting CnC to see if you're getting better. It would take away some creativity too people do the easiest thing for that rank just to have a rank

 

This is a very good point that I would not have thought of. The creativity will be quashed by a superficial rank.

 

I believe what you're referring to is "Classing" - and this is implemented within most large Graphics Communities and Forums such as VibrantFx and FringeFx.
Creating these ranks, and possibly even giving the bearers of them forum permissions, would blur the line between Staff and Regular members too much - and I don't think this is a very good idea at all. While I dislike saying this the active Graphics Section members do only represent a minority of Sythe, and they are not highly sought after.

A side-note: should ranks and classing even be considered, I don't mean to be cruel but the only active members who have a Graphics shop that would be given these ranks would be TR1BAL, Spraynwipe, and kovan - w000t is somewhat near, but still has much to improve on.

 

I dont see it much diffrent to asking for a spammer's or debate rank, really not much point. Most people can name a handful of good GFXers, who's work they like. Signatures are your oyster.
