fuck winter

two new pieces here. I did these for the beginning of a new project,
which is basically just a winter portfolio but calling it a project has a
nice ring to it. it just flows better than portfolio. I'm going to try to
keep a theme running if I can remember to but these pieces are
pretty much total opposites. perhaps the theme should be weather?
I'd like to hear some ideas on theme, very open to suggestions.
anyway i used some simple renders and a lot of fractals here, the
first piece is obviously a signature and the second one is kinda just
there because i felt like it. s/o anime. also it's like three degrees
here in Pennsylvania.

fuck winter.

Not a huge fan of the second one because there is just tons going on. Fractals are kinda messy and having two focal points messes with the piece.

That being said, I think the first one is very good. The colors are very well done, and since the render is just head and shoulders, the circular effects that you've got going work well. If I were to give feedback for that piece, I'd say to move the render to the left, so that the hair on the far right of the render is just shy of the middle. That would help to eliminate the sense of emptiness on the left. I'd also work on some more realistic lighting because you seem to have a few different light sources from your effects. Try to match up the effects with the lighting on the render. Keep up the good work.

Yeah I've been told a few times to pay attention to lighting of the renders. I did some quick adjustments here and I think it looks a good bit better. Perhaps some fine-tuning is still needed but I think it gives the piece a much better flow and it looks a tad more realistic.

Are you drawing all of this yourself or are you editing pieces together? Either way, they look pretty awesome :p Keep up the good work.

I have to draw certain effects with a bunch of different brushes and make the base for the background but the rest is just a composition of renders, fractals, C4Ds, stocks, etc. Thanks for the kind words. ^_^
