Modding xboxes, has anyone done it?

My dad bought a new xbox, so I want to mod his old one to play burned games/games on flash drives.

How hard is it? Does it require any mod chips like the old playstation 2s did?

I have a modded xbox and a non modded one I got it flashed by someone a while back the only problem is it can't be used online and depending on Microsoft you have to update the flash once in a while.

Flashing an Xbox is pretty easy, I did it for myself and a few friends awhile back, but it's been awhile. I can link you a detailed guide that I have used.
