So bored at work I thought of an idea. When I user gets banned for whatever the case maybe and they have tradable miniranks. We should have a monthly or bimonthly auction where we can bid on them. The funds would go to sythe as donations.

Opinions?

It is probably because it would take effort to really gather each user banned perks but could definitely be worth it if a member of the sythe community volunteered to keep track etc.

Banned users should lose what they had because they shouldn't have gotten banned to begin with

If that is your argument, then this should not be considered.

Here is just a basic outline

> Too many different ban reasons
> Bans given wrongly
> A lot of problems coming from this

If your counter argument is only making this applicable for users banned for scamming, well if you do that, that will drive them away from pardoning, which means, not paying back the scammed users.

Going to agree with Ghast. Everyone makes mistakes and theres always a chance to be unbanned.

Just my honest opinion it just seems that you were looking to try to snatch miniranks however possible.

I guess but no I have my miniranks from dicing and won't pay unless it's a supermanmMinirank just a idea to make sythe get more funds

This idea could work for those that are perm banned though. Certainly Staff have a running list of those users.

What about when people have a successful pardon and want their mini ranks back?

So, what you two are saying is that permanent bans don't actually mean "permanent". The Pardon system in this aspect is flawed.

You're able to pardon any ban, whether the pardon is accepted is up to the discretion of the staff.

Yep, not practical when the pardon system is in place.

Terrible idea, if someone is banned falsly and their miniranks get auctioned off that's bs. Just keep them even when banned.

Well, it would make some sense if a "falsely" banned person, anyone actually, should apply for a ban appeal. So, a "perm" banned person should still be able to appeal the ban but that should determine whether the person can pardon or not and told that the ban is permanent.

Now, there are times when those that are accidentally or falsely banned and file an appeal on the ban, they should be given the option to file a pardon if they don't get enough votes.

There should be a distinct difference between a banned person and a perm banned person. Also, there should be a "3rd strike you're out" for scams. Obviously, all bans should be dealt with accordingly on a case by case basis.

So, if the flawed pardoning system was corrected, the idea to auction off perm banned members ranks is not a bad idea at all and it would greatly benefit Sythe.org.

Edit: If you're found guilty of scamming & don't pay back, you shouldn't be able to pardon. I believe what I meant by the "3 strikes you're out" would be to those that did actually try to scam, paid back the victim and are pardoning to come back. If you do that three times you shouldn't be allowed to pardon. But, meh, some people might have an issue with my wording.

Side note: How do I do a strikeout? should do the job. Is there a different way on this forum? hmm

Well, what you're asking for would require the entire pardon system to be changed (when, realistically, it's fine as is right now.)

I don't feel like these auctions are a grave enough update for such a drastic and time consuming change to an already adequate system.

@Ghast and Farcast

To my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the pardon system in place for giving a second chance? Almost like a parole?
They still did wrong, and still were meant to be banned. Look at the case with Jack Goff; he was banned and pardoned successfully but when he came back he was no longer an OMM. Why shouldn't the same apply to miniranks when they're technically ranks?

It'd raise more money for sythe, and I'm pretty sure losing your miniranks is a small price to pay to be given a second chance at being unbanned.

However, in the case of disputing a false ban, then this shouldn't be allowed.
