Here at sythe.org, we only promote LEGALLY obtained upgrades for RS, right. Yes, that's why we banned pins and ******* sales. Purely because of the legal side of it. I've viewed the prices in US dollars just to show a comparison.

Credit Card Upgrades
1Rg3T

PayPal
1Rg4p

Paybyphone
1Rg57

1 Month Game Card Cost
1Rg6n

See the recurring theme? Membership for one month is pretty much $8. With the market for RSGP on it's rear-end, lets say GP is valued at .3 to be generous, the minimum they could sell upgrades for to break even is 27M. To make it worth doing/profit they would need to be in the region of 30-35M.

HOWEVER, there are multiple people selling for under 30M, just a few examples.

h1j2q3. Selling PaybyPhone upgrades for 15-20M. Not profitable. http://www.sythe.org/account-upgrad...ing-shop-ultimate-game-cards-sms-pbp-15m.html

Justhope

Artemis, as cheap as 14M!

These are evidently gained illegally, this should be stopped. Also, sellers should have to state their best price on the thread title, a lot have never been updated from the 12M days, but they are now like 35m+

Well I don't really see how Game Cards can be obtained illegally, but if the seller refunds the buyer if the card gets charge backed there is no problem.

This is a dangerous precedent. If we accepted a minimum price for upgrades, we'd have to accept a minimum price for gift cards and potentially other services. There are reasons that someone would be selling an upgrade for "less-than typical" market price, for example, they pay cash at 7/11 for a card and sell for rsgp if they don't have access to a paypal. Or they sell them at a loss to build trust. Or they obtain them at less-than-market price legally (I can verify that this is possible).

If you see a thread advertising the wrong price in the title, you can report it and a mod will fix the title

Gamecards aren't the problem, I was just stating a price to see why they would be selling them at a loss unless they are bought from retards. It was just as a comparison

Gamecards aren't the problem. It's PayBySMS/Phone. We all know they are dodgy.

its illegal u can go to a phone company aka atnt verizon t-mobile and so on....
send runescape messages
get codes from rs
then sell codes -thats how small time people do it
i have no clue how big people do it

If there going to be setting up an upgrade shop and regularly selling them, not just a 1 off, then why not make them provide proof of them legally obtaining them.

My brother buys upgrade cards for £5 at sainsburys, and sell on some other site for 9m each every week because he had no other way of getting GP on the game (he's 12/13, I forgot lols)

*******s. That's what they do. Methods such as that and using other peoples phones (usually swedish/aus i believe) and obtaining 'pins' at others people's expense. I believe that's why *******s were banned. When SMS/PBP upgrades are that cheap, there's evidently something fishy going on.

Wouldn't work. People want to sell upgrades for some quick GP sometimes, it would basically ruin that part of the market. There's also pin re-sellers, that just buy pins off other people for low amounts and re-sell them to somebody else for more profit. You simply couldn't set a rule like this without ruining half the market, and in the long run, it'll just end up deterring users away from the site. Really nothing can be done about it, if you wanted to set rules like these, about half the site would leave.

Even with a minimum price a person can still sell a pin and all you do is set a much better floor for them. Half the huge gold sellers are funded by illegally obtained gold, the steam section filled with recovered/ hacked accounts, the WoW section filled with illegally obtained gold, xbox section is filled with illegally obtained membership and msp card codes.

There's no reason for setting a price floor on memberships because all you will do is allow the pin sellers to make more and in most cases people will begin seeking memberships on other forums where it is cheaper.

I suppose you have made a fair point there, what about some proof of purchase legitly or something? Would stop a lot of pin sales.

I don't think anybody would be up for regulating and enforcing that, imagine how much time would be wasted for each sale and it would drive people away from selling upgrades here which is a fairly large part of the forum.

I suppose for every advantage there is a huge disadvantage. Think we've about cleared up the fact that this can't work without a huge hassle/deterrent being caused. Thanks punjabi for properly pointing it out.

I mean, sometimes when I have bought a new phone you get like 20 pound free credit on a sim card, I suppose buying them and then selling them for non-profit or breaking even is still legit. I guess they should describe where they got them from.

This seems like you are pushing for this because you're losing profit on others downbidding you, which is called competition. It's unfair just because you can't make a profit, you have to ruin it for others. I understand that theirs is gained illegally and they aren't making profit, but they also aren't DIRECTLY breaking Sythe rules, they are using loopholes, just like lawyers do in court, completely legal. In the end, Sythe is not to blame as they have done their fair share of banning the illegal substance, it's up to the members to abide or they will be punished, just like normal life with the law. For this, I don't see why Sythe staff should even bother wasting their time in making things fair for you when it won't harm them in the end either ways.

That awkward moment when I've not sold upgrades for ages, not properly anyways. Lol

"Blackhat"/Malicious Activities: Using software tools for deceptive, malicious, or harmful intent (Hacking/DDoSing/Social Engineering). Punishment for these offences will be dealt with on case-by-case basis, but will most likely result in a permanent ban.

^ Pretty sure stealing phone credit from someone is using software for harmful intent.

You obviously didn't understand what I said. Re-read.

I don't think there is any way of setting a minimum benchmark for sale's, but possibly for the major seller's, get a mod to verify their stock is legit. I'm not sure how it could be approached but i think this is the most likely of any outcome.

You're all a bunch of stupid fucks. The pins were renamed upgrades so as to prevent sythe from any legal trouble in the future. So stfu, turn the blind eye. You think you're being smart when this is by far the stupidest suggestion I've seen in a long time. What's next? Minimum post requirements for spam forum?

Pretty much this. Inpherus once pretty much admitted in IRC that he used *******s a while back, but the blind eye was turned. Essentially, in most markets here at Sythe, if you make it look legit the staff is willing to believe it is legit. That is the way things have always worked. If you're blatantly illegal, then you'll get in trouble - but again if you look legit you'll get the benefit of the doubt.
