Minimalist RS Art

I'm a huge fan of minimalism/simple artwork and practice it quite frequently.

I saw potential in a certain RS character and created the below.

And then I made this small edit:

Can't decide which one I like more, though.

Both created in Ai CS5 fully vectorised.

Also done Graardor. He looks a bit weird IMO.

Something about the second one draws in my attention, but I got a feeling the shadow could go a tiny bit further out but that's just my opinion.

 

I see what you're saying, but I tried it with the shadow a little larger and a little further out and it look strange in both cases.

I wanted to try and keep the lore about Vorago being hidden in a cliff for centuries relevant to the second one.

 

Either way mate, you've done quite the job and it looks impressive I expect more to come.

You have to put a few shades on graardor, because you look at him from an angle.
It will keep looking weird otherwise.

 

Minimalist art is the shit. I personally think the Graardor one is the best. Now for the first 2 you posted I would prefer the first one since it is a bit difficult to distinguish the difference between the background and the actual character in the second one. Maybe you should make the background a slightly lighter or darker shade for better distinction?

 

You're looking at it from an angle because he didn't align the body parts to make them horizontally congruent to one another. I don't think adding shades will fix that problem.

Graardor looks weird to me because his hands look like tentacles, and as previously mentioned, his body is turned at an angle.



Try adding slight cuts to resemble fingers.
